I don't get the obsession with size as long as you win.

Is Butler a big school? Is Creighton?

Because its not just about winning, is also about your tv market, fan support in stands that will travel to bowls etc. the larger your fan base the bigger your revenue from tickets etc.

I wouldn't want to partner up with those schools either. The future Big East will never see their preview issue on the news stands again due to all of the big schools/fanbases (i.e. football brands) leaving. They've rebuilt a mid-major conference structure. The new A10.

Some of us know about Tulsa. They're no daisy at all.

Tulsa or S Miss is fine with me. I have no interest in UMass as a football addition at this time.

I really want us to grab VCU. That would be a great addition that doesnt dilute the money much at all. While Im all for adding up to 3 non-football schools---beyond VCU, I dont really see a slam dunk.

VCU has solid consistant program, over 30K students, and is located in Ricmond, a metro area with over 1.2 million folks. Thats a solid fit and needs to happen now. Im a little less sure about some of the others mentioned (like Wichita, ODU, or UMass).

It's been a decade and a half since we have played Tulsa, but we had won four in a row on you before the series took a siesta 03-nerner

I live in Wichita, so, if we are in this conference for an extended length of time, trips to the likes of Tulsa, Dallas, Houston and Memphis won't be too hard on me.

Didnt know you lived there. So, what your take on Wichita. Are they worth looking at, or do they need more time?

If we could add Tulsa immediately to get to to twelve I would be pleased.

In the long run, I think that it would behoove us to ass Southern Miss and Old Dominion for all sports. Adding VCU and Witchita State for Olympic-sports would be fantastic. For that matter, we could also add LaSalle and Richmond for Olympic sports if we were smart.

It looks like Tulsa is already locked in as 12. I say we invite Umass, Witchita State, and VCU as BB schools. Slide Umass in football if we lose a member.

Guys, it is not going to be Army. They have said NO more times than they have been brought up on this board. It appears that NO means YES to some on this board. Keep bringing them up, but it is a waste of your time to even discuss. They stunk in CUSA and learned their lesson there. If they could not win back then, why would they basically join it again?

UMASS has done nothing to deserve a bid. The only thing they have is market, of which they carry none of it. If this was now market driven, then why did we get such a crappy TV deal with all of our BIG MARKETS? A big NO to UMASS. They offer less than Army.

It will be Tulsa and hopefully they will be offered and confirmed right after March madness so we can move on to the name and get that knocked out by the end of April.

I bet Tulsa comes in 2014 no matter what Navy does. I think the league then sticks with 8 conference games in football but moves to 20 in basketball to continue the double round robin.

Yeah, I got the sense this would happen pretty soon from Aresco's interview in the OP. I thought it wouldn't be announced until after the NCAA tournament. Maybe they have clued into the fact that everyone pretty much tunes out college sports after the tournament. Anyway, solid choice.

I'd love to find out the brain trust is smarter than I think... I hope they surprise us with a VCU announcement on the same day. That would be a home run.

Not that it matters a ton, but Tulsa would get my vote.

Yeah... I agree totally. We all keep hoping that things are being worked out to our advantage 'behind the scenes', and waiting for those 'good news' announcements... but all we ever get is more bad news. Sometimes it appears our guys are also just watching TV to find out what happens...

They need to work out any remaining positives and make a single big splash announcement, as opposed to all the twitter and blogger leaks that really steal the thunder. New name, final total TV $$$ with every possible penny accounted for, FB addition, a few BB additions. Make us look GOOD for once.

F.uck you. You act like you are beating elite teams every year. Last time I checked, you don't own s.hit in this neck of the woods. Get off your high horse and go focus on getting your fan support up to Appalachian State levels, along with the other 5 Cane fans.

Tulsa melts you hard.

Im sorry we humiliated you on homecoming this year and swept you in hoops. Good luck next year with your horrible head coach and worthless QB.

Cougar High has 100,000s of thousands of living alumni in Houston and you guys pound your chest over having 25K at your games. The stadium was empty this year at the start of the second half.

Tulsa doesnt have enough living alumni in Tulsa and Texas to fill its stadium. Big deal we had a bad showing on the championship game. Weve filled our stadium plenty.

Halftime at homecoming....

Panic, you're pretty much the only reason anybody on this BBS is opposed to adding Tulsa to the conference.

Food for thought. Probably time to grow up and stop trolling.
