Sounds like they might be a little concerned about Memphis's athleticism and DJ.

I'm impressed.. the guys from the MSU team were very respectful of Memphis. They are alot more respectable than their fans.

That was very good. Very respectful towards our team, I am impressed. Loved the way they talked about DJ. DJ is really shining right now and turning lots of heads. I really want to see him at the next level. Looking forward to the game tomorrow. After watching the interviews it's hard to not like them. And I don't like liking our teams opponent, if that makes any sense.

Well, that's a low bar to hurdle. But yeah, their fans could learn a thing or two from their players and especially their coach.

That does not make perfect sense to all those who do not understand?

More preview and interviews
"I only have one memory of MSU's matchup against Memphis in the 2008 Sweet 16. It was a monster dunk from Joey Dorsey.
I went back and looked at the box score yesterday. Dorsey had six points, Derrick Rose had 27 and Chris Douglas-Robert had 25 as the Tigers destroyed MSU. The 92-74 score doesn't match what's left in my memory. I was a freshman and I drank a lot that night in my dorm. Maybe there's a correlation."

The Memphis Magic plus Geron, DJ, Shaq and Barton is a lethal Tigers bunch.

RE: Coach Izzo, Coach Fife & Seven Players After Practice Talk Memphis
The way they all seem so concerned about DJ and talk about bumping him while in the air to keep him out of it scares me to death. DJ has taken some hard falls this year, and if he gets hard bump out of the air and gets hurt it's gonna be bad. They are clearly concerned with him. And even Izzo seemed to think Joe was better than Appling, but he said he liked Appling's toughness a bit more. Guess we will see. Geron and Chris need to have big games, our bigs stay out of foul trouble, and I think we can pull it out. Just hope everyone stays healthy and its a clean game with no cheap shots.

I missed that, there was so much noise in the background. What exactly did they say?

A couple of their players said they would have to pump fake DJ to get shots off, and put a body on DJ to keep him out of the lane, and if he tries to jump over them they gotta bump him out of the air to keep him from doing that over and over. It just sounded like they were really concerned with the athleticism, but Izzo and every player constantly said "DJ", "the Stephens kid", etc... and they all mentioned trying to keep him out of the air by making him not want to play above the rim. It just has me scared a hard foul make occur.

Hopefully it'll be a non-issue. What scares me is if he goes up high for a rebound, or an alley-oop, and a guy sees him up there and undercuts him he could come down really hard. There is no need for that, but I'm scared Michigan St will do what it takes if DJ is dominating the game.

Several players have done that to him already, hopefully wasn't intentional. But if these guys are planning this, it could be a problem. Need to save that video.

Our staff needs to have that cued up and show the refs before the game, and say that they are planning intentionally dangerous fouls
That should be a flagrant 2 worthy of ejection if that plan is carried out, and the refs should tell them.
I'm not even talking about anybody getting called for fouls or not - I'm talking safety - life and limb.
If Izzo allows that he loses all respect - intentionally undercutting is not an acceptable tactic.

Loserville did that on more than one occasion and the refs let them get away with it each time.
I expect MSU to feed their bigs down low who will use pump fakes to get our guys in the air and make a foul. If Black, Shaq, and DJ can stay out of foul trouble and DJ can block a few shots at the beginning of the game, it's going to be a real interesting outcome.
