Bill Battle 72 to be new Bammer AD...72?! Do they get the College of Cardinals to do their hiring? Heck if Former Coach Callaway manages to stick around he could be in line for this job-sort of like "Will the last living Bear player please report for duty as AD". At least he (Battle) is a West End grad so the BOT has a streak for Abba Dabba grads with hiring of Pres. Watts.

RE: New UAT AD
The US Government forbids discrimination on the basis of age Maybe they want someone to keep the seat warm until Sabear is ready to retire from coaching.

If he didn't post it, how would you know where to send congrats when some bammer player hits a long shot?

Sorry about the non Blazer nature of the post..but really when we can make fun of the crumby bastids on the BOT and the bammers at UAT isn't that Blazer relevant? And I did reference former alleged football coach of our beloved Blazers.

Why on Earth does anyone think he would leave the Ravens after having just won a Super Bowl for a lesser job? He probably did more to stop that rumor than anyone in the Central time zone

No way in hell Ozzie took the job anyhow.
Battle is in a good place. Saban is going to rule the roost, AD title be damned, until he decides to retire or gets itchy feet. I think he retires at bammer. So Battle gets to assess the coaching in basketball and baseball, the various Olympic sports, and get his feet wet under the least possible pressure.
Mal Moore was an idiot who got very lucky. If Mike Price doesn't screw up, things are different. If RichRod's wife does not get her panties in a wad, things are different. With either one of them in place, Mal does not catch lightning in a bottle and hire Saban. Hell, if Miami signs Drew Brees instead of Daunte Culpepper, Saban might still be in the NFL.
Raising a bunch of money is damn easy when you're at bammer and you have three national championships in four years.
Battle will either be a CEO AD or he will for sure be replaced by one when he goes. The age of the old boy, old coach AD is going the way of the dodo.

Mal Moore contacted Bonner & Bonner contacted the BOT before anyone could blink an eye.
You had people on al.com screaming for them to offer it to Newsome.
I don't believe any call was made to him or that he turned anything down.
It happened way too fast in my opinion.

I also believe way too much credit has been given to Moore based upon hiring Saban while they ignore the other hires.

Without hiring Saban, Mal Moore is a boob.
I still think Anthony Kennedy is a good hire. All he needs is a couple of real shooters... and maybe T.R. Dunn back on the bench.

He will be a CEO AD. He started the Collegiate Licensing Company. He's there to cash in as much as possible for them.

He was set up in CLC. It was neither his idea, nor his capital. He was an unemployed former head football coach with a law degree who just happened to be available at the time CLC's predecessor, Golden Eagle Enterprises was established in Selma to oversee the flood of marketing requests that were coming in regarding the "315" record.
