I watched it, sounds as if they do have about 80% of the Phase One money lined up. They said that was what they were working on right now, until they get it complete, so in a way they were right.

Phase I is funded and going to the ULS board for approval next month. That is $20 million in hand.

Phase II has most of the funding in place, they do not have the total $65 million in hand at the moment, but it will not be long.

Phase III is need based funding, no clue about funding for those projects.

Joey Durel Lafayette Parish President would back a .01% hotel sales tax to help fund Phase III of the project as it will bring more business to the university area.

RTFA: Master Plan Recap - Posted in Different Thread

The article states the renovation of Cajun Field is 5 phases. 60-65k is a 20+ year long-term vision.

In the article:
Quote:The first step of the first phase is to add 5,900 seats to south end zone, allowing for the remaining expansion to be done without losing use of Cajun Field

The only reason we're adding capacity right now, is to make room for the folks in the upper deck that will be moved when we work on our new press box/suites.

It is called vision, we do not plan on being a small time program for the rest of eternity.

The 62k capacity that was proposed is not what we will expand to unless we get an invite to the Big XII in the future. Not gonna happen.

What you will see is bowling the South end zone adding 5700 seats. Complete tear down of the current upper deck and construction of a new upper deck. The new upper deck will have less seating than the current, but suites and open air suites. You will also more than likely see a matching upper deck on the East side of the stadium.

So you will see a final seating capacity of about 42-45k. Which with sustained success we will fill to 85% capacity easily and for big games sell it out.

RE: Take a look... NEW STADIUM CONCEPT
So, let's see.
Option 1: Keep West Upper Deck
Phase I ~ 45,000 seats
Phase II ~ 50,000 seats
Phase III ~ 51,000 seats
Phase IV ~ 56,500 seats
Phase V = 62,204 seats

Option 2: New West Upper Deck
Phase I ~ 46,000 seats
Phase II ~ 52,000 seats
Phase III ~ 54,000 seats
Phase IV ~ 60,000 seats
Phase V = 64,986 seats

Looks like they're modeling it after TCF Bank Stadium at the U of Minnesota?

You would be correct, I am in favor of option 2 and going through Phase III of option 2 without bowling the North EZ which would cut seating to around 45-48k.

Unless a Big XII invite came you will never see Phases IV & V.

Looks amazing, hopefully you can get it done. It has a way better chance of happening than the the UNLV proprosed stadium.

This is the work of a number of key people within and outside of the university, including Scott Farmer. I am confident that Scott (and his team) have been working very hard behind closed doors to get this done. Just because some fans have not been given first hand information and a step-by-step update as the plan has progressed, they have felt it necessary to find someone to throw under the bus. Because of the position Mr. Farmer holds, he was the obvious choice. There is no doubt in my mind that Scott Farmer is attempting to do all he can to advance the position of this University, it's facilities and programs. But these things require time and a teamwork approach.

I think we will see that our wait will have been well worth it!

Scott Farmer has been involved in putting together the Master Plan, no one has ever debated it. Now where your information has been clouded by your friendship with him is on fundraising. Mr. Farmer has secured very little if any of the money being raised for these projects today. If you want to give him credit because his subordinates or his team as defined them has raised money, then that is fine. But Scott Farmer has done little if anything in the area fundraising that he can truthfully lay claim to today. When it comes to football, Hudspeth and Gerald Hebert have raised the majority of that money along with a few major supporters. That is fact Duggie!

So, list which party secured what money and how/who they secured said money/funding source.

So list what you thing Scott Farmer raised, but I know several of the last donors that made major contributions and Scott Farmers name never came up.

I saw that too! If that comes to fruition I will gladly go over to the McNeese board and thank them for their awesome idea.
