I am doubting it ever took place. Just message board rumor. We had two recruits come in this weekend though.

No it actually happened. Not sure why you doubt it. Sander said he would be meeting with both coaches after the season to review. He met with Kemp already as we know. Now he has met with Bartow.

I was doubting it actually took place this past Friday, not that it will never take place. But if it did someone in the know shed some light please. Apparently the visits went well.

No I'm not. Jar is a good friend of mine however and I've known him many years. Have spent many hours on the playing fields in and around East Tennessee with him. Good memories all.

Tubby Smith just became available.... but we get another year of Bartow... I think this will be the first bball season in a long while that I will not be excited about.. I kindof dread it already.

UCLA and Minnesota are firing coaches who made the NCAA tournament, the Gophers even won a game. Thats not good enough.
But 22 losses, no problem.

I'm still all for giving Bartow the boot this year but if it comes down to money and doing the best for the upstart football team then so be it. I guess that I can be apathetic about the basketball team for another year.

They still need to recognize that Bartow is not the future of ETSU basketball and I hope that he's history next year.

They obviously didn't get the memo that it's hard to win on the road.

I've always been a fan of Tubby Smith, and thought he was doing a nice job at Minnesota.

The standards at UCLA are a little bit different.

Yes, apparently at ETSU the worst season in the history of the program is excusable as long as you get a lucky win against a sweet 16 team.

You all know who the AD is at Minnesota, right? And where he came from?
And who he succeeded at that previous school?

And Minnesota is about to fall victim to the same fate the Bucs would if they fired Bartow right now. Dumping a coach without the ability to significantly upgrade. Minnesota always does this though. They fired Glen Mason despite being making consistent bowl appearances, now they can't field winning teams.

Unless you have the ability, and a plan in place to significantly upgrade there is little advantage to dumping your coach.

ETSU is about to do the same as Minnesota? Really they dumped a coach with a national title on his resume and not only made the NCAA this year but won his first round game. Yeah Minnesota finding an upgrade for Tubby Smith is going to be hard. ETSU finding an upgrade to Bartow, not so much. Bartow is not a good coach so finding a significant upgrade should not be hard at all.

EXACTLY. As far as X's and O's, Bartow is not D1 caliber.. His offensive sets are fit for Daniel Boone High School. Dont even get me started on the zone. You could easily find a better coach. The only issue would be finding a better recruiter. As long as you keep some of the assistants in place I dont think recruiting would take much of a hit. Not as much as it will after a couple more 20 loss seasons....

A new coach will bring in his own assistants. He could keep the existing ones, but that would his call.

Its the current position, ETSU is not a position to SIGNIFICANTLY upgrade at HC. Yeah we can make a change and possibly improve by a marginal amount but a program with an interim AD, crappy facilities, and stuck in conference limbo is not going to attract a significantly better HC than MuBar.

Believe me, I want him gone as much if not more than the next guy but the timing just isn't in ETSU's favor to make a move RIGHT NOW.

Very well said +1. Now isnt the time to draw the best we could get. After some things are finally sorted out and things settle it will be a easier to attract a higher level of candidate.

I would still take Scott Wagers right this minute. I can't understand why that's not a better option than mubar. UNQUESTIONABLY he would do a better job.
