Seems like overkill to type "Die Big East etc. etc."

Someone needs to raid the ACC soon so they can take UConn and Cincy from the Little Remainders.

Funny if we could re-recruit two defectors from those browner pastures.

UConn and Cincy are both actively trying to split from the American 12 or whatever the new conference will be called. They had a big discussion about this on the Herd yesterday.

RE: Big Least not out of the water yet
This is my favorite part.
Quote:NBC Sports Network's contract divided the league into Group A (Connecticut, Cincinnati, Houston and Temple) and Group B (the remaining members), sources said.
The media rights deal can be terminated if either two Group A schools leave or one Group A and one Group B school leave. If two Group B schools leave, the contract will be renegotiated, sources said. This does not include any schools that already have announced they are leaving, such as Louisville, Rutgers, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh or Syracuse.
So Memphis is a second class citizen behind Houston in their bright shiny new leaque

That appear to be a slap at the longevity of the new Group A and the others in group b league...to funny...

Well, in terms of football success at least, Memphis deserves to be behind Houston. Well behind.

Navy got a sweet deal to keep their current contract unchanged. They get the benefits of conference affiliation without the harm of joining their contract.
I don't know what kind of pull we have, but I wish a few of us eastern schools (UAB, USM, Charlotte, Old Dominion) worked with the Atlantic-10 (UMass, VCU, St. Joes) to pull some of the Old Big East schools (UConn, Cinci, Temple, maybe USF and Memphis) into a hybrid conference that gives the ACC wannabe's a better basketball conference, a relatively equal football conference, and screws over the C*USA defectors.

Wouldn't we be a CUSA defector at that point as well?

We would be leaving the Sun Belt (my condolences to Rice and UTEP, I think the MWC would take them both... or at least UTEP).

We need to stop bitching about where we are not and concentrate on being the best UAB we can be where we are or we will always stay where we are.
