That is huge. UAB is really at the forefront of adopting music technology from the realm of trade schools and turning it into a respected academic study at a mainstream university. This should have happened decades ago, but UAB is way, way ahead of the curve. But the program needs to be much more in depth, and I think Eric can help make that happen. I'm still going to have to go to a trade school to get a real job in the field as an audio engineer or live sound tech, but I came into the program really, really green.

That's great news, probably the biggest I've heard since Stevie Wonder funded and Dr. Panion started the digital music program. Eric is a great player, likeable and well respected. Good get, UAB.

Every university program in a new area of endeavor has a growth curve that begins with basics and move into refined areas as new and more range and quality of talent (as shown above) moves into it. Years ago, USC started a movie electronics / animation school based on its proximity to Hollywood and today its graduates are being hired right out of school for 6 figure salaries for the best of them. When written up in a news magazine, every graduate had at least 2 jobs to choose from. Maybe UAB's Music program will have similar results.

BTW, Only a few went to work on feature length national release works, but on private company training films as companies found them a great way to expedite learning from films to get new or retrained employees up to speed faster..
