I'm hearing Akron was basically given the shaft on ticket allotment. No surprise there.

The good news is that virtually everyone in the building will be rooting against VCU.

How was akron given the shaft on the ticket allotment? Aren't all schools given equal number of tickets, just like bowl games (I know, bowl games are not NCAA sanctioned)?

I'll be rooting for Akron, but Shaka Smart isn't as dumb as Jim Christian not to press those guards and not atleast try for more than a minute left in the game for 15 seconds.

I have no clue how it typically works, but apparently Akron was allotted 550 tickets and the rest of the tickets are sold out due to UM/MSU fans(?)

Obviously, nothing official. I'll update if/when I hear more.

Hmm. I just looked on Akron's message board (not their CSNbbs one) and there was no mention about their ticket allotment.

Haha, yea. I just quickly looked on their message board and didn't see anything. And I don't know who to look for on twitter.

Like I said, nothing official. Hopefully there was just a misunderstanding somewhere along the line.

I would THINK that they would give each school the opportunity to have an equal number of tickets. But that would make sense. And we're talking about the NCAA. So who knows. Hopefully Akron can get a good number of tickets since Akron > Auburn Hills is not too far.

It wouldn't surprise me if that weren't the case. It's not a coincidence that MSU and UM are playing in Auburn Hills. If the zips can somehow win Thursday, round numero dos would essentially be like playing in the Crisler Center...except bigger(!)

I assume that each of the schools only get so many and the rest are sold out months early on a first come/first served basis.

How Akron (and VCU) gets hurt is that a lot of folks in MI will buy (I mean BOUGHT) those tickets and will NOT resell them as they got their eternal wish, both UofM and MSU playing there.

For the life of me, I do know why the NCAA doesn't pull back at least 1K per school for the first round but I guess is 100 bucks in the hand is better than 100 bucks in the bush...

Auburn Hills will be one tough ticket!!!
