Thats all the ACC can do to try and be successful, take from the Big East. They can't do it themselves though.

With the ACC being the least-powerful football conference, rumors of football-basketball factions, and rumors of teams looking to defect, and Big Monday basketball, maybe Swofford would be in the market for some Olive Garden gift cards Aresco found in this desk?

Sorry but look at who's playing tonight! Two future ACC schools that are Big East Football schools and ESPN has the ACC contract. Makes sense to most.

It's too late, they're not there anymore. UConn, Cincinnati, and USF took all the Olive Garden gift cards, and they only left a "Buy One Entree Get A Free Dessert" coupon for the incoming FB members.

Realignment will do what it's going to do, and no one knows what will happen in the future. But prior to realignment, the Big East was miles ahead of the ACC and Big 10 in BB, and UConn was the #1 BB program in the Big East.

Prior to the first raid of '03? Well if that is the case then UConn only went to its first NCAA tourny in the Big East 13 years prior in 1990. They went a whole decade in the league without an NCAA birth.

I thought the BE/C7 were contracted with Fox. Why would ESPN want to give Georgetown, St Johns, etc additional exposure if they aren't going to profit from them anymore? Now if we are talking BE/A12 that is a different matter. It would be nice if UCONN, ECU, USF, Temple etc. were getting that Monday exposure.

Well word is Fox might sell some games to ESPN, like how ESPN did with CBS.

Maybe Fox sells ESPN some games and we get an early season ACC-Big East Challenge.

True that this was taken from the entity formally known as the Big East and now the Metro/A12...but theoretically, this was really taken from the from the C7/Big East whom just about everyone associates with Big East Monday. I doubt anyone expected the Metro to keep that slot and with the C7/Big East moving to Fox there was no way that slot would/could be used on them. The C7/Big East needs Fox to continue the Monday night theme.

Surprised anyone would think this was news or even surprising.

The announcers sure talked it up about how the real BE is dead and I certainly agree with them. New C7 league is no more than a glorified A-10, if that.

RE: ACC to take over Big East's Big Monday telecasts.
Didn't ESPN have to do something since the Big East Conference (C7) is going to be on Fox? So naturally ESPN had to replace the Big East (C7) with someone so why not the ACC? 01-wingedeagle

Now we have to see where ESPN puts the A12 (or whatever the f/b member conference is called). There will still be good basketball in the A12 with UConn, Cincinnati, Temple and Memphis.

New C7 league would have been #4 this year. A10 never got to that level. Creighton, Butler, Georgetown, Marqette, and Villanova all getting NCAA slots. That's 5/10 teams in. That's very strong.

The A10 might get to that level this year -- Temple, Butler, Saint Louis, VCU with La Salle and UMass on the bubble.

Big Monday was really good to the Big East. For the Catholic league's sake I hope Fox can compete with ESPN. Georgetown and Villanova are undoubtedly the headliners.
