LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing against Nendick. Very good kicker. But we were at a game- a group of us. Got in to the east side early to get good seats. (You can tell it was a while ago, right?) We were maybe 8-10 rows up on the south 30 or 35 yd line. The place was packed. We were squeezed in. Then, when the team comes out and starts warming up before kick off, this blonde girl wearing a Nendick jersey comes up to one of us and says, "Could you move down so we (her and a friend) could sit here? My boyfriend is the kicker and he practices here."

HAHAHAHAHAHA. We politely told her, no. She stood in the aisle and then wandered down and maybe talked some other poor sucker into giving up his seat for her. But we will never forget, "My boyfriend is the kicker, and he practices here."

I heard he had a poster of himself in his aparment and I'm pretty sure the VCB didn't sell Nendick posters. 03-lmfao

A couple years ago some of us were football (and tailgating) starved during the off-season, so we attended a Slaughter game at the Sears Cetner and made it a point to wear NIU jerseys and cheer for Nendick. Good times!

Nothing wrong with that! I have a big poster of myself (in my birthday suit) plastered on my bedroom ceiling. Aside from giving my wife nightmares and sending her to the psychiatrist, I think it's a nice thing.

The Lashon O Meter also used to get quite a bit of coverage. Remember the out house (dog house) that they used to pull onto the field.

Thats cool! Doesnt surprise me, always seemed like a class act. A line from the movie Rudy comes to mind, "If I could only put your heart into some of my players". I wish we could implant Nelson's attitude into some of our current players.

My best NIU basketball moment as a student was going to a game against UWGB in the mid 90s, it was a highly anticipated game, Im not sure if UWGB was ranked but they were probably in that top 35 range. That is about as loud as I had ever heard Chick Evans, attendance was 5,500. I know there was a famous alley oop play in that game was it Hartke on the receiving end I cant remember. I sure wish there was some way to see video of that play. I have never seen a replay of it. Huskies lost, but Chick Evans was up for grabs. During NIU's rally I will never forget the entire stadium with the "N-I-U" chant, it gave me goosebumps and was just defeaning.

Chick Evans was a lot of fun when it was packed like that. Felt like big-time basketball. Even if the BB arena looked like a high school gym with the bleachers.

Yes, I have some very fond memories of games at Chick Evans. The place was rocking. It was extremely high school-ish and embarrassing, and I was very glad when we moved to the Convo. I remember how impressed I was when I selected my Convo seats on August 24, 2002. Little did I realize that the last game at Evans in February 2002, was the last time we played real basketball. We now live solely through the memories!

Hang in there Dog Fan, someday (hopefully soon) NIU basketball will rise again!

I know that it is easy to lose confidence in MM but we have him for a while (can't afford a buy out), he seems like a good guy with solid values and perhaps he can get the ship righted. He is an easy guy to root for and perhaps he will do for NIU basketball what coach Novak did for NIU football. We had to walk through the valley of the shadow of doubt with coach Joe but at the end of the day it was more than worth it.

The Convo just is not a good atmosphere for basketball, the track just kills it all. Sure the toilets are better at the Convo, but ill take Chick any day.

Why does the track kill it? Its not like more than 50 fans sit above the track level as far I have seen.

It would be nice if in 10 years the BB team was good enough that NIU could justify renovated the upper bowl seating. Until then it doesn't really matter.

Huskie Stadium has more issues and its our prized sport. Fix the West stands first!

+1
Convo also lowers NIU's credit rating. Perhaps one of the single biggest waist of money in NIU sporting history
