Tough one... but if I had to pick just one... I'd go with Turner.

I'd have to say Wolfe.

RE: The Best NIU Player Ever
Cowboy was only a few yrds. short of 2,000 for a season. He was also 6th in the Heisman. I've watched both Turner and Wolfe play, but I was at Northern with LJ. I went to more road games just to watch him play. Bigger than Wolfe and just as fast.

Not as elusive though.

Bradley for sure in basketball. Best visiting player to play at NIU would be Doug Collins and second is Robert Parrish.

Turner transformed NIU football, no doubt.

The OP didn't specify the sport.

I think the problem is we do not discriminate between best and most exciting. The excitement factor you probably would have to go with Johnson or Wolfe, but its hard to argue that Turner was not the most talented.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing against Nendick. Very good kicker. But we were at a game- a group of us. Got in to the east side early to get good seats. (You can tell it was a while ago, right?) We were maybe 8-10 rows up on the south 30 or 35 yd line. The place was packed. We were squeezed in. Then, when the team comes out and starts warming up before kick off, this blonde girl wearing a Nendick jersey comes up to one of us and says, "Could you move down so we (her and a friend) could sit here? My boyfriend is the kicker and he practices here."

HAHAHAHAHAHA. We politely told her, no. She stood in the aisle and then wandered down and maybe talked some other poor sucker into giving up his seat for her. But we will never forget, "My boyfriend is the kicker, and he practices here."

If she was cute, you should have let her squeeze in next to you.

Okay so his girlfriend wanted to get a spot to watch him warm up. Sounds like she asked and then moved on after you declined. Not sure how this story or your reaction are funny/cool...or how any of it was stupid on her part. If anything it seems a bit douchey to me. Our stadium has never been so packed that you could't make room for two people who were interested in cheering on someone they know.

I heard he had a poster of himself in his aparment and I'm pretty sure the VCB didn't sell Nendick posters. 03-lmfao

A couple years ago some of us were football (and tailgating) starved during the off-season, so we attended a Slaughter game at the Sears Cetner and made it a point to wear NIU jerseys and cheer for Nendick. Good times!
