"above us . . . in prospective draft order"
I stated it that way specifically so no one would misunderstand that I was saying better in football. Guess it didn't work.
tbh, I only read the first sentence of your posts. You haven't earned the right to take anymore of my time.
Thanks. Now that I know how far you delve into anything and investigate it before posting, you've saved me some time in the future.

RE: My thoughts on UofM conf affiliation (naysayers beware)
I love Tiger football (season ticket holder for 12 years), but there is a lot of truth to some of the things the OP has expressed.
But the HUGE elephant in the room is one that no one wants to ever talk about.
Fan Support. There is certainly a solid core group of fans that number anywhere from 6,000 - 12,000. But of even that core, how many are willing to pay $1000/seat (like a PSL) and an average seat price of $90 or $100 per game? The answer? probably about 2000 or 2500 fans. That's it. Even in the DeAngelo years it's the same.
Most of the families in the Memphis metro area that have the means to support sports spend that money on programs that are in the spotlight - on the big stage (even Ole Miss who is generally a terrible team, but plays in the SEC). We live in an impoverished area and the University is not an option for a place to spend money. People want to be associated with a winner, hence the plethora of Pittsburgh Steelers gear, LA Lakers gear, etc. etc. Heck, the Grizz still haven't broken into the poorer areas yet as being the team to wear on your head.
Basketball requires fewer people to fill an arena than a stadium. Basketball tickets are a point of pride among the haves. You can't even get the majority population here to buy $10 dollar tickets to see the Tigers play in the FedExForum. Pretty sad for a city that associates itself with a winner, even claims to be Tiger basketball fans.
The majority population of this area follows Pro Sports programs. Probably because many of them don't go to college, or go to an historically black college with no national spotlight on the big stage. Heck, the largest attended sporting event among blacks here in the city is the Southern Heritage Classic, and most of the poeple that go attend as a social statement and to see the competition between the bands at halftime.
That's what you are competing against. Not RC, not Dr. Raines, and not the BOR. Until the University finds a way to involve graduates as alumni and not Memphians, Memphis football will continue to falter.

No football or basketball?
Maybe he's one of those Memphis "air rifle only" fans.

The reason?..They hold all the cards and the reason anyone does anything, because they can.
Yep, if we don't get in a P5 conference it will eventually hurt basketball. Schools in the P5 will eventually have so much more money, even non basketball powers like Mississippi, Auburn, etc will be able to out spend us to hire better coaches, build better facilities, get better recruits, etc

He was also pimping Dou McDermott for coach. The same McDermott who is 9-12 and 0 for 8 in Big East play and has lost 9 out of their last ten games. (They were just too much for UTPA, poudning that 311 RPI team by 5 at home. )

Threads like this one, is what gives credence to Forbes naming us the dumbest City in America. People like this guy is why corporations don't move here. Guys like him show up for the jobs. Unqualified Workforce, Unqualified Fans and Unqualified to procreate but does it anyway....
