Friday Night at The Q - Game 1
Just getting underway, nice crowd of about 7K at tip off. Assume the OU fans are still at the bar, when they arrive there should be around 10K tonight. Kent with the early 5-2 lead as Akron is 1 for 5 from the field early on.

10-9 Akron at the 12-minute mark, solid game as expected

Tied at 13 at the nine minute mark, game is turning sloppy. Very physical though sitting court side.

With 6:42 in the first half Akron leads 20-15. Bench scoring is where the Zips really lead, 11-2 thus far. KSU is in the bonus though.

Akron has a nice following of fans. A little disappointed in Kent's number though. Don't gt me wrong it's a nice showing but for being so close and playing your chief rival.

29-21 Akron with three minutes remaining. KSU is shooting only 30 percent, Akron is shooting 55. Akron leads points in the paint 13-6

Chris Evans just had a WOW of a slam with six seconds remaining in the half. He jumped from the foul line for a tomahawk thunderous slam. Zips lead 32-29 at the half, KSU has 'uncle Mo' on their side with that play going into the locker.

Talk about balance, 19 players have participated thus far and between both teams no individual has shot the ball more than five times. These are two very similar 'team' oriented programs. No player for either team has scored more than seven points.

Kent ruined the good feelings of that Evans dunk by letting Betancourt run down the court.

Nobody remembers Betancourt running down court right now. Evans sat with foul trouble and came back with a vengeance, if he doesn't come out on fire to start the 2nd half I'd be very surprised, same for the rest of the team.

RE: Friday Night at The Q - Game 1
KSU has come from nine down to take a 46-43 lead. Typical Akron/Kent game, back and forth with key runs. The crowd is getting into it, OU fans are coming in and Western has brought a solid crowd too. Crowd has to be at least 10K now.

What a block by Zeke! Or should I say "grab in the air." Akron back on top 47-46 as both teams are now shooting 45 percent for the game.

Akron continues to pound the inside, leads 51-50 at the seven minute mark. Akron has a 22-12 lead with points in the paint. Zips are 7 of 15 from the foul line tonight.

Big time correction, KSU leads points in the paint 24-18, I've been reading the wrong column, sorry folks. Both fan bases are really getting vocal now, Akron leads 54-50 with five to play.

7-0 Golden Flash run as KSU now leads 57-54 at the four minute mark. Akron bench and fans getting uneasy.

Or as others would say "goaltend" they failed to call.
