Hope Reese is as successful in dealing with his life issues as he was on the court. The Rockets will do well to embrace his spirit in their efforts.

+1

Inch for inch & pound for pound, the hardest working Rocket we've had the past few seasons. Will be a big hole in this roster if he doesn't come back.

I understand there are things bigger than college basketball...but it would sure be nice if a couple more positive things would start to come this program's way...

Hope to hear only wonderful things happening to him in the future and hope he made at least a connection or two that will help him get on.

Hopefully there is nothing too serious going on in his personal life. He was one of my favorite players because of his hard work. And at least it seems like he is leaving on good terms.

This is the world we live in kid leave a lot more than they used to. If they don't like their playing time or coach they don't stay especially at the Mac level. Reese's case seems different

I wish him nothing but the best.

His shooting improved from the start of his freshman year to now more than any player they have ever had.

I think this APR thing has to be addressed you cannot judge the present by what happened in the past. Though the last 2 coaches ran off more players than I would like to see run off and there is a price to pay for that as an institution

Reese will be missed. It seems to me that the many departures under Kowalcyk's reign points to some kind of problem with the program. He definitely has done a good job of recruiting, but I don't believe that this number of defections is normal.

Wish he would stay for his leadership, heart and off the bench skills, but realistically where are his minutes going to come from with the players coming in. With Witherspoon, the other transfer who was conf. freshman of the year before transferring, Lauf, the kid from Spain, the kid we redshirted this year and our other freshman center, that is a lot of forwards taller than 6'3".

I want him to stay but realistically he'd never see the floor.

Wow----just when you think that you have turned the corner and it is all behind you. Sorry to see Reese leave-----he always puts out maximum effort and plays a lot bigger that his size would suggest-----I wish him the best of luck and hope things work out for him.

I believe that's four players to leave in the last year - Majerle, Matthew, Dear and Holliday. Looks to me like Holliday left too late in the semester to be able to drop his courses with no penalty. This will hurt UT's APR. This turnover is concerning.

I respectfully disagree. I think Holliday would have seen plenty of time on the floor next season. We're all hoping that Weatherspoon will be a good MAC forward, but who knows? As for the kid from Spain, in my mind he's another big ? mark. Reese was a proven player. We will miss him next season, and my optimism has waned just a wee bit with this news.

And at least 2 of those were, imo, "prompted" by Coach K...sure hope he was thinking about the possible impact on APR again, if that ends up being the case...

Was told by a very good source that Reese has legitimate issues to address back at home, wasn't asked to leave... Reese's decision. Sad to see him go.

I believe it. I wish him the best and he will be greatly missed. Hopefully this is it. I'd say he might come back in 2014-15, but his eligibility will be up. Obviously he can't transfer.
