RE: Southern Miss v. St. Mary's
Also consider that 3 of St. Mary's losses were to the current #1 team in the country, and they have a Top 50 win.

No. It'd be better if Memphis would win every game for the rest of the year.

I think it's silly enough that Memphis is a 9, but out?

If the season was a month longer, I believe that our RPI and seeding would be the same number.

All I did was check the updated bracketology at cbssports.com. They didn't have you penned in this morning and they only have 1 CUSA bid and are predicting you guys as that team. It shocked me. To me that implies if USM or UTEP wins they are ignoring MEM.
One would have to think if this was to happen, they would revisit that train of thought, but I just thought it was disrespectful to what you guys have accomplished to not already have you as a 5-8 seed.

You forgot 2 wins over ECU (98).

I made a post awhile back that alluded to eventual RPI numbers and how our road warrior season should be taken into account.
JMS even pointed out how we have played so many on the road.
I hate media distortion.
If we win, none of this will matter, but it is tiring to continually have to defend stuff like this.

USM has to win out I think. I don't think it's fair, however. But, as you alleged to, allowing USM in means that CUSA isn't as bad as they say, and we can't have that.

Well, it would really suck for Wal Mart to have to carry ODU hats alongside UNC hats, Memphis hats alongside Vols hats, etc. Our whole economy depends on this crap and y'all just won't get with the program.

I know you and me disagree with the Hammond thing, but IMO, this is where hiring the consulting firm is of the hightest importance. Lord knows our on-field performance hasn't garnered any credence with the agenda based media.

Here's a question: what happens if we beat UTEP but lose to Memphis by one. Now were looking at a team with an RPI creeping into the 20s, and SoS in the low 80s. Are we still NITwits? If so, why even have RPI?

I'm starting to swing back the other way on Hammond. I've asked people to state their case for him here, without much luck, but a few people have said some things recently that do make sense. Balancing our budget doesn't arouse my excitement... but if it's a precursor to growing our budget, then it's really just one small step in the right direction. Also, for all the good stuff that happened under RG, he really left the cupboard empty. Hammond is facing an uphill climb. It's no coincidence that RG, Martha, and both Larrys all left at once.
Really, the consultant should have been hired a long time ago. Realignment should have been made a priority circa 2000-2003. Hammond may be better at that kind of thing than RG was. RG always seemed way more enthusiastic about CUSA than everyone else.

RPI only means something when it makes a big conference school look good.
Now that so many of them have deflated RPI from playing no road games, only home against cupcakes, it doesn't mean quite as much. They will keep changing the "important" criteria to fit their needs.
Oh RPI is the most important, no wait SOS, how about TOP 50 WINS??

I agree and others here have pointed this out. No differently than other self serving agencies, USM younger alums are starting to figure this out (lack of consortium brain power). This, amongst all others, is why I think JH is the perfect man for the job. That good 'ole boy bs is why we are discussing this crap....pissess me fk off....I grew up with a lot of these fkrs that put us in this position...fkn da-s...I'm okay now....just had to get that off my chest...sorry for the rant
Your points are very matter of fact and remind me of what I sometimes like or want to say....plus you got balls...I like that!
