Michael Cooper resigns as WBB coach at USC
According to the article the best of his four years was 2010-2011 when "he took USC to the WNIT finals".
I'm sure that the folks at USC remember Coach Cullop. Hopefully the head hunters won't be providing an additional distraction during the MAC Championship weekend.

Coach C has pale skin and stands too close to the sun. It'd be a bad match for her.

I claim no personal or insider knowledge regarding Coach Cullop's long term goals and aspirations but I will say that I would be a great deal more concerned if it was the Purdue job rather than the USC job that just came open.
However, unless USC has already earmarked a former player or former assistant for the job, I would be very surprised if Coach Cullop were not directly or indirectly contacted to at see if, at the very least, she has any interest in being considered as a candidate for the job. This is particular true if USC has hired an outside "consulting firm" (= head hunter firm) to help conduct the search. These firms tend to do thorough and exhaustive searches as much to build their own data base of potential candidates in order attract future clients for themselves as to satisfy their current client.

Of course.
They'd be fools not to call her.

He and his player both looked about ready to crack up over that ----in disbelieve, I suppose----priceless!
I also so liked his flawless Eddie Murphy imitation at the close of that post game press conference ---"Are you a reporter, sir? Do you have a question for me sir?---he had all the dialogue, voice intonations and hand gestures down pat.
I never liked the LA Lakers or him when he played for them but that post game press conference won me over and I am a bit disappointed that he didn't have more success as a coach over the last two seasons after the WNIT. I still wonder why he at least did not try a zone to slow down Naama when it became obvious that they could not handle her in man-to-man---particularly with the picks that Goodall and especially Richardson were setting for her.

Toledo fans should be worried about head-hunters working for schools closer to home. There could be some major changes in the Midwest and on the East Coast.

I think a lot will depend on how well the Rockets perform in the MAC (and hopefully NCAA) tournament.

Does anyone still have the link to the "she got 40" press conference. I tried like heck last night to find it on Youtube, but failed. Ended up re-watching a bunch of WNIT championship videos again. Reliving the excitment in preparation for this weekends games.

I agree in a sense. It would not surprise me at all if she chooses to leave after this season. She seems very competitive, and with the 5 seniors graduating the timing would seem right. If I were a coach, I've pretty much taken the program as far as it will may go in a one-bid conference. It would also not surprise me if she chose to stay, depending on where the offers came from. I would think she would be looking more towards a Big 10 program or maybe an eastern conference team close to the midwest.

RE: Michael Cooper resigns as WBB coach at USC
I've been thinking about the possiblilty to coach leaving and what the motivations could be. Can't be because of the facilities, can't be fan support, she's had recruiting success, she has support from administration, she has one national championship and hopefully an NCAA birth after this season.
The only to obvious reasons to leave are money and conference. She's making a nice salary, but we can't match what B14 is paying and bigger conferences don't have to worry about getting screwed in the rankings or tournament selections.
Hope she stays a Rocket for a very long time, but realities lean towards her leaving sooner than later, it will happen eventually. We'll probably be having the same conversations about Coach K in four years after we've been to 3 NCAA's and won a couple of MAC titles. Coach C is in the same boat.
