What did I say on Day 1 when Nbe flew its Times Square Banner? UConn, Cincy, USF, and UCF are now off to a truncated ACC, probably Temple and ECU too. Tulane, SMU, Memphis, and Houston back to CUSA. A CUSA-24 will emerge with four divisions. I am so happy, CUSA is now back together and some new exciting programs added! It doesn't get better than this! And Tulsa's future (stability!) is secured!

I think it will be UConn, Cincinatti, Memphis, UCF, Temple and Navy to the ACC, but ECU and USF may get in if that conference wants to go to 16. Anyway, the America 12 is living on borrowed time. UH, SMU and Tulsa may end up in the MWC if their egos prevent them from coming back to CUSA. It doesn't matter. Every America 12 school needs to be making contingency plans. The smart ones already have.

That's simply not true. I know a ton of people will send PMs to me expressing their thanks to me for bringing such solid analysis and deep thoughts to this board. Even most of the mods around here get mail about me that extols my virtues. Sometimes, it makes me blush that I am held in such high regard on this forum.

You're welcome.

There is no CUSA to come back to. Just some Sunnbelt/CUSA/FCS hybrid thing. The CUSA we left no longer exists. I think i'd be fine heading back to CUSA if something close to the old conference still existed.

Ego nothing if it means playing in the MWC or the pile of steaming turds that CUSA has morphed into its not even close.

We could not get out of a CUSA that was lightyears ahead of what it is now versus what that delusional Tallgrass wants it to become and they (and you) think it is ego/pride that would keep us from going back?

Please!!!!!

"If" CUSA was the same CUSA we left I would put that as option 1 if we had to go somewhere. They way it stands now and the way it is devolving into in the future there is no way we go back there.

I know, it's a 2-minute minor to disrupt a message board pile on, but people forget that for quite a long time before this round of realignment began Tallgrass very consistently had the "scoop" on TV contracts and upcoming network developments in general. Besides, while some of the things he says reasonably match what I'm hearing and some others are new info, at least he's one of the posters that speaks from the unique perspective of the ivory towers where the decision makers in all this ponder their moves. That makes his posts orders of magnitude more interesting than, "These schools will get invited next because they are good at football" / "No, these schools are good at football!!" types of posts. If we all should learn anything once and for all from this mess it's that the thought process of the previously mentioned ivory tower residents does not even remotely resemble the thought process of fans.

(03-13-2013 08:23 PM)UTEPDallas Wrote:  Tallgrass goes way back to the WAC-16 days. He's said multiple times he got degrees from Oklahoma State and Washington State and he's basically a fan of everything Oklahoma (Golden Hurricane, Cowboys, Sooners, Thunder, etc). He used to troll the MWC board for years but he stopped recently. I guess he replaced the America 12 for the MWC.

I don't have any problem with Tallgrass. I know there's plenty of Tulsa fans who dislike him because according to some of them he talks of TU in a condescending way, the way only a Sooner or Okie State fan does.

Just a couple clarifications here. It was the MWC fans who came on to the WAC board who started it all. When they did, I simply answered their posts.....but I went back to the MWC board and answered their posts there and not on the WAC board. Remember Zoombag? He would put a half a ton of posts on the WAC board daily it seems.

I haven't posted on the MWC board rarely and for quite a while, not since CUSA invited Tulsa and UTEP to CUSA.

Do you remember LoboBlast on the CUSA board? I like free and open boards, the MWC board is my favorite. That way, when a board is left open and not censored, a foolish poster like LoboBlast eventually destroys their own creditability. I told LoboBlast he better wait for the soon to be played TU/NM football game to be over before mocking CUSA. But he didn't listen. Then, of course, Tulsa pounded NM into the ground....and that was the end of LoboBlast on the CUSA board.

Past is prologue. I never thought in my mind I would see a replay of the Denver Airport and "eliticism" but here we are! And, like the Denver Airport/MWC episode, the Nbe/A12 has also proved a fiasco.

The only hope, the one and only hope, that the Nbe/A12 has in making a bigger splash and gaining more publicity on the national scene is thru cooperation and coordination with their NonAQ colleagues. But they are not there yet, but, eventually, they will. It will come after the last shoe to drop, which is the bowls and bowl opponents. When Nbe starts playing downgraded bowls against CUSA, MAC, and SBC, then, and only then, will Nbe scratch their heads and ask: "Can we do something better than this?"

My hope is that all of the Gof5 conferences get this point. Soon.
