It wouldn't matter what conference that they belonged to Tillery would be a debbie downer. I stopped listening to him years ago and if he is on with Wolo or Greg or whoever I change the radio dial.

Seriously, somebody's going to be able to think of something to say to insult you no matter how hard you try to guard against it. You can only make the choice for the most appropriate, well-fitting, marketable name possible, because nothing else matters.

I don't think any of the people who were slamming the idea of 'America12' would object to 'The Metro Conference'.
Using EAC..I could see them gearing up to point out that its 'a high school conference name'.
Hell a bunch of people in our state already call us "Tiger H!gh"...and we're in a 'toilet' known as CUSA. They are just waiting for a good first misstep to dump on our new league too.
I believe we start things off on the right foot by sticking with the tried and true 'Metro'. Due to the respect that that conference once garnered...I believe our new conference would become one of the better leagues within 10 years.

WTF is up with you and chanting? its like you just want a name so we can chant it and not a name tht can be chanted at us. Who cares if we can chant a name, i just want something decent so we can say we are actually in a real conference with a real name when we leave CUSA in July.

It isn't just the Tigers, it is the entire city of Memphis (excluding the Grizzlies). Everytime I mess up and hear him talk I ask myself why does he even live in Memphis. As bad as he hates this city and everything about this city, you would think he would move somewhere else.

Second...I'm pretty sure that the name 'Eastern Athletic Conference' is TRADEMARKED by that league.
Remember when World Wrestling Entertainment used to be called World Wrestling Federation? The WWF was confused alot with 'The World Wildlife Fund'. The World Wildlife folks got justifiably upset.
Which is why the former WWF now goes by the 'World Wrestling Entertainment' moniker.

Nobody here wanted the Metro name revised two months ago let alone 2 years ago, now the BE name is stolen, the C7 leave, Boise and SDSU leave, Louisville and Rutgers leave, the TV deal stinks, we lose BCS status. So the thinking goes like this.

Actually, I did want Metro to be the alternative in the worst-case scenario of losing the Big East name. That seemed to be a popular opinion at the time, as evidenced by the immediate groundswell in support for it.
In fact, I wanted the Metro name years ago when I dreamed of a breakaway conference or rebranded C-USA in the wake of the first raid.

Two months ago we didn't know we'd have to come up with a new name by July 1, but I don't think that anyone spoke ill of the Metro and in fact, most thoughts of that Metro were of the "what could have been" variety.
