Don't talk to me about love and tolerance sir, because I assure you I've kept my mouth shut on much of the issues in regards to Liberty and it's cultural differences. My perspective is from a different perspective than has been expressed on this board and I would rip your "love and tolerance" argument to shreds.

Please note: I tried to address your concerns several times, yet you ignore them. Done so without any hatred or vitriol. Actually tried to help you understand it.
You play the victim yet again. I'm sorry you can't see past your own agenda.

As I read the posts I try to envision what the person looks like thats writing. Mathenis89, let me take a guess. 5'8" 140lbs, never played a sport, not very popular in school. Message boards are your way of feeling important. Guarantee you this. If we were all sitting in a room chatting you wouldn't be so loose with your smart comments. Pretty easy to hide behind a keyboard huh?

(03-13-2013 11:49 AM)knucklehead Wrote: It's a complete shame that it has to be that way. Liberty fans have tried again and again to keep the discussions about athletics competitions. Many SBC posters have seen fit to react in a way they wouldn't to any other school or group of athletes. Our athletics administration and our athletes have fought hard to build excellent programs and they deserve a shot. This should be based on merit on the field.
Liberty is no more controversial (less if you ask me) than BYU, and yet many people seem much more critical of Liberty's policies. These athletes (like every other school) are here to play and rep the university they willingly chose. They are not forced to go to 3x a week convo, they are not forced to live by rules or curfews, they chose it. If there are Bible classes at a Christian University, that should not be a shock. These kids chose to come to LU and they can leave at any moment if they choose.
We can discuss every other University's athletics programs at nauseum, but you guys seen incapable to have this discussion about LU.
Funny how those who fight so hard for an even playing field for all lifestyles and beliefs (diversity) are the worst critics of those choosing to go to or support a school where we want the same thing, a level playing field. We may believe differently than you, but I assure you that the vast majority of us respect your right to choose how you live.
rant over.
1) Liberty is a discrimitory university. And that will always come before anything athletic. I would consider Liberty a cult.
Cult
[kuhlt] Show IPA
noun
1. a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, especially as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology . a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
Definition from dictionary.com
If this dosen't define Liberty University, I don't know what does.
2)No one is mentioning BYU here because they are in no way remotely considered an expansion candidate. Yes I also consider BYU and mormonism a cult. The elders of the church have the final say at BYU, and the reason they are not in any conference right now. And may never be again.
3)It has nothing to do with diversity or personal belief. It has everything to do with discrimination and extreme right winged agenda of those who run, teach, educate and Learn at Liberty. Those who have different beliefs are ostracized.

As far as the gay issue many of you act as if liberty is on an island. In my beloved south the latest polls I've seen show up to 80% are for a constitutional amendment defining marriage between a man and women. Over 70% don't support the gay lifestyle. These are your neighbors and co-workers. I suppose you in the academia world are the enlightened ones. Since so many have brought him up. Falwell once said he's debated some if the best scholars in the world and some of the dumbest he's ever meet are the ones with the most initials behind their name.

And this thread actually started out really well. Now it seems like a bunch of dogs chasing their tails. This will be more fun when / if we see more smoke. Doesn't look like we will know any more about voting until May.

Reminder: OK, here is how it is. We took a secret vote, in just the last few hours, of all SBC fans. By a wide majority Liberty is not wanted. All Liberty posters are directed to any other conference board of their choosing. Have a nice day
I did not want to mention it, but since you refuse to abide by this SBC Fan Directive as authorized by secret vote,I will. Liberty University received less votes than choice #2 "stick ice picks in my eyes". I didn't want to hurt your feelings.
