I'm glad he's not a finalist. I'd rather have a president who want's to solve problems, not run away from them.

Unprofessional comments. Pretty clear he wouldn't be fit to carry Dr. Peters briefcase.

That is what I thought too. Why would you even say that? I am really hoping we end up with somebody from a major university (not Murray State / Illinois State types). We need someone who is going to think big.

The problems that moron referred to all flow up to one cancerous tumor at NIU. The university, with the help of federal and state authorities, is in the process of removing that tumor. It is not like the corruption is rampant. NIU is filled to the brim with good, dedicated, honest staff and administrators. Get rid of that tumor and all will be well.

Just like when a coach takes himself out of consideration for a job right before they annouce that somebody else got it. I do not want anybody who previously had a job in Illinois state government. No thanks to that experience.

thats a pretty low blow. If he can't contend with this penny anty stuff, then how can a guy like this take us to a new level. he was told he was not a final candidate so instead of being respectful, he takse the low road. That comment could hurt his future career choices

I agree that NIU is full of many good and wonderful people.
Problem is that the tumor runs deep and has spread.
We need to charge some of EW underlings so that they rat on their Ex boss. Show that being a public service does not allow one to use Government resources for personal gain while being paid a salary by NIU. That is called stealing.

How many names on this list do you recognize who do close to nothing?

RE: Pres Candidates to Interview This Week
If a solid man like President Peters could not tackle let alone fix this tumor, it would take an ex Military man to do so.
Maybe we need Rocketranger for the job?
WE need to fire a bunch of fosilized fat-cats and bring in a culture of transparency and anti-corruption.
NIU president does not have the authoritarian power to fire crooked tenured professors. Neither do department heads.
College of EDucation is a really bad example of NIU corruption and inefficiency.
We need the FBI to tackle the problem. Maybe we should hire from within the FBI.

How many over-paid "semi-retired profs" do you see?
Even more astounding. How many good profs are not on this list.

I understand the need for being hush hush. Does anyone want to have their current company know that they are interviewing for another position?

I can sort of understand sitting presidents being sensitive to this, but in general, I'm with the IPA attorney. If you want to be president of a university with all the constituencies involved, openness should be an expectation.

It doesn't seem like the norm to have an entirely secretive process like this. Growing trend or not, process matters. There's a message to the university community by having a totally closed process. And when you've had major ethical problems, the whole culture needs an infusion of openness.

Not in this particular process.
He/she can (should) bring that to the everyday business processes.

when conducting a search like this you have to respect the candidates present job and may not want his present employer to know they are looking until they reach the final 4. The final 4 are on campus this weekend and we will know who thay are. If you are one of 20, you probably don't want your employer to know just yet

A BOT special meeting on the President Search is tomorrow on the Naperville Campus. Did anyone hear anything from the meetings on the 21st or 22nd?
