I feel pretty good about the SMU game; I think we can win that one.

Then we'd go up against USM. Would have preferred it to have been UTEP (who we've given a good amount of fits), but it's still possible.

Win that, then we go against UTEP, Houston, or Rice. All beatable.

Leading us to the conference tournament. Part of me hopes we can send Memphis packing, but also part of me wants to go against someone else in the finals.

I'd sure like to test the "it's tough to beat a team 3 times" theory against so miss

That thory is disproven over and over. If one team is more talented, then they can beat them as many times as they want.

Still...I'd like to take another run at it

And we're not playing the game. Personally I'm worried how we are going to match up with Indiana's big guys in the championship game.

A little bit of reading material to remind everyone of the last time we played Smoo.

Let's just say I don't expect a cakewalk to the 2nd round and you can't win the 2nd game without first winning the 1st game.

I can't see where anybody above mentioned a cakewalk either, so I guess we're all on the same page

UAB has been too inconsistent within each game to expect any game to be easy. I would like to see them play a 40 minute game at their highest level in the rest of the season, thereby making it last longer. We have "blown" too many leads to rest comfortably until the clock reads 00:00 in each half.

Heck, we don't even come close to matching up against SMU, height and weight wise.

Speaking of Indiana, back when UAB played Indiana in Bloomington in the Final Sixteen, UABs big men Anchrum(6'11")250lbs, Speer(6'8")240lbs, Giles(6'8") Leon Morris(6'8"), and Craig Lane(6'6")245lbs, although Craig was, at the time, suffering through back spasms throughout every tournament game. Craig played only 14 minutes against Indiana. He had picked up his fourth foul early in the second half. Craig did not foul out but three other UAB players did foul out, including Leon Morris, who played 24 minutes, substituting for Lane.

Here is a link to an article about that game and it also has the final statistics at the bottom of the page. Interesting statistics.

Yes, you are right. Coach Haase and UAB, in the upcoming years, are going to have to figure out how to add to their roster, enough big men to be competitive against usually much taller teams who regularly play in every years NCAA Tournament in order to have a chance for UAB to be an NCAA Tournament caliber team, every year.

That is the biggest disadvantage that UAB has had for years, lack of height and weight in the paint, or big man depth on the bench, and one big man cannot carry the entire load. UAB needs at least two or three big and tall men on the roster, every season.

That is why Memphis is so strong and effective every year. They always have a couple of big and tall players in the starting lineup and a couple or three more waiting on the bench.

I hope Coach Haase will be successful at signing "BIG MEN" to UABs roster, in the future. That is certainly of utmost importance.

Considering how well we did in the paint vs. Memphis and UCF, I think we have a shot to build something good.

With greater depth and better recruiting, I do think we will be able to compete with tougher teams.

Next year's UNC game is going to be interesting.
