2014 rules...
Just curious but in 2014 doesnt the NCAA enforce the rule where the highest ranked non-BCS school gets an automatic BCS bid?

Same rules as before, NIU has to be in the top 16 and be the conference champ and finish ahead of at least one BCS conference champ. Chances are even slimmer than last year though with OSU back in the mix and a couple of non-BCS heavyweights in Fresno St, Boise St with fairly easy schedules. Plus with NIU, it would be TONS to ask to go into 2 Big Ten venues and sweep especially at Purdue. The advent of the conference championship games does provide some slim hope though, it allows things like WIsconsin to happen last year. The only way I would get remotely excited about a BCS run this year was if NIU beats Iowa and Washington beat Boise St. If Boise St takes care of Washington, they arent going to lose.

Wrong, 2014 and after is highest ranked out of the 5 (MAC, MWC, CUSA, Sun Belt, and America 12 or whatever they are gonna call themselves). you gave a response for 2013. Read before you respond.

I was thinking of 2014 National championship game and assuming he meant this season. But yeah same rules for this season. If Boise beats Washington we are SOL, you scared me for a second.

Actually brad the 2014 BCS pairings are going to the enforced in the same rules, I dont think the new rules go into effect until the following year. Old BCS has one year left I believe.

RE: 2014 rules...
The 2014 football season is when the new rules begin.... The 2013 football season is still under old rules, the 2013 post-season, even though some games are in Jan 2014, count with the 2013 football season. They dont just change the rules on Jan 1st and all the pairings that are set up at the beginning of December dont just magically change. Does that clear things up MD? That's as about as obvious as I can make it.

That is what I was saying all along, we agree haha, I thought the poster meant next season. What we have is a failure to communicate :) I assumeed by 2014 he meant the 2014 BCS games, aka the end of this upcoming season.

And also huskie2379 if you were talking about this upcoming season, the top 12 rule is also still intact, everything is the same for this upcoming season and 2014 BCS games.
