as we all know, crime raised its ugly head in dekalb in the last several years, does it have to do with EW bringing in sec 8 housing

We paid this guy 300k/yr to steer NIU's ship, and during his watch he purposefully introduced low income housing into the community? I would love to see a lawsuit, with him losing the units in the process.

RE: EW place on paid leave
What if President Peters should give EW a raise while he is under investigation?
Does he own any rental units in "Edens Park"?
Is President Peters a lame duck or just another crook for not firing this man and complementing him instead?

Plus, he also has a housing unit on Chicago's south side. I would not be surprised if he used his NIU phone number for those tenants as well. It also would not surprise me to see the NIU police doing background checks for that unit as well - if it turns out that they did do those tenant background checks.

I think that's gonna be the big issue that comes out of this.

There should be a law requiring high ranked Public University officials from using their power to acquire personal wealth at the expense of University resources.

Don't forget about his Naval Reserve retirement money too!

He retired as a Captain after serving for 27 years.

I wonder if he is charged with a felony does he lose those retirement benefits?

I would be willing to bet a fortune that Dr. Peters has NOTHING to do with this. He is a stellar human being. Yes, he is EW's boss, but sometimes you cannot do things because your hands are tied by forces outside of your control. I am certain that Dr. Peters wants to see EW gone more than all of us combined.

RE: EW place on paid leave
Am I understanding this correctly?
EW must be making money hand over fist??
1) Naval Captain's retirement pension.
2) NIU Salary $300 000.
3) Income from 90 low housing Residential units in DeKalb.
4) Income from Chicago housing residential units.

i heard EW wanted the Presidents job that went to Peters. I would assume EW would not tkae it lightly and they gave him a big promotion and raise. I always felt EW thiought he was invinceable.

Unless the FBI stays in DeKalb and investigates, we might never know.

The forces to cover up such a link if it exists are very powerful.
EW could shut the NIU police up from raising a connection between the two. Who else has a financial interest in,"Edens Park"?
Municipal officials? High ranking DeKalb police officials?
Other strong interest groups?

I haven't looked at the crime stats but based on my observations from stories in the Daliy Chronicle over the last several years, Edens Garden is not a primary contributor. Most of the crimes reported (especially violent crimes) are centered around Univ. Village (Sec. 8) and the Greek Row area which has been overrun with undesirables. Unsavory landlords have been allowed to rent to thugs and drug dealers without impunity.

Univ. Village (Sec. 8) has been a problem for at least the last ten years. Nice apartments with free rent with under the table cash flow for dealers.
Once they get in, they are there forever.

Maybe EW should have been checking out Univ. Village (Sec. 8) tennant or instructing the police to do so.

University Village scared me to death when I had to deliver food there at night, and this was back in 2002-2003. I would purposefully leave my extra cash for the night back at my place of employment when I knew I had a delivery there. I don't even want to know what it's like now over there.

"Williams, a top-ranking administrator and one of Peters' closest confidantes, was placed on paid leave following the raid."

So who is fooling who?
