OMGZ where did you hear that? Haha we've known about that since Wednesday.

Apparently not everyone got the message so I posted it again...what's your problem?
Calm down it was a joke. Barksdale is the one that is leading the charge here.

Obviously, this is not good press for NIU. I only hope the authorities resolve this mess pretty quickly. I hope this doesn't drag on with lawyers and court actions, but something tells me this smell will linger for quite some time.
Hope I'm wrong......Not a good way for Dr. Peters to go out

I prefer to remember Dr. Peters singing the fight song after a victory.

This board and the Northern Star have been telling Dr. Peters about EW for years. Did he just look the other way? I hope not.

There is a lot more behind this than we'll ever know. Dr. Peters is a great man and my hero. Nothing will change that.

Best possible outcome for NIU

The FBI is unable to come up with anything embarrassing to Dr. Williams or NIU

Dr Williams decides that after a long career it is time to retire.

We find a strong leader to help the NIU community heal and to move forward.

RE: EW place on paid leave
I am doing my best to reserve judgement here, but its hard to forget all the crap some NIU fans gave us about the point shaving scandal that occurred over five years ago. Some still do today. That was the misdeeds of young people that were all dismissed from UT and were punished. In this case we are talking about several well paid adults that are supposed to be leaders of NIU. A couple folks under Eddie have already been dismissed, and then the chief of police, and now the FBI is on campus. I guess the moral of the story is that we all will live in a glass house at one point or another and maybe it would be a good idea for those people at NIU that once threw stones to think about that long and hard now that NIU is the center of focus on the corruption front. I hope all works out well. If NIU does what UT did, which was the right thing to dismiss the wrongdoers then we should all be complimentary of both of our universities instead of continued bad mouthing that just never stopped coming our way from NIU fans. I have a feeling that UT fans will be a little more civil since we understand that the misgivings of a few should not be reason to criticize the masses and all the other good people that do good things at UT. I hope some of those that kept beating us up on that front will now think a little different. Now it's your turn in the barrel and its no fun!

Yeah I dont think you have to worry about that, that is one area UT will lead the MAC is corruption. Between point shaving scandals and coaches have sex with their student athletes and blackmailing them, Id say you guys will be leading the pack in that department for awhile. I still always find it funny Gradkowski, one of the ring leaders of the scandal, never faced any penalties.

RE: EW place on paid leave
Not that I want to defend Toledo but, we just lost our football head coach for the 2nd time in a few years, for more money. We lost an assistant coach that just got here, for more money. Our AD just left, and half the administration is on leave for some kind of scandal. The president is also retiring, and we don't know if that is related to all this FBI warrant uproar. Our basketball teams are some of the worst in Division I.

On second thought, maybe I'd rather talk about Toledo....

RE: EW place on paid leave
Turbulent waters at NIU indeed and a ship lacking rudders and new waves keep coming.

Thank god for NIU football, the IPF and the Orange Bowl.

Otherwise news coming from huskieland the past few yrs has been for the most part as dreary as today's weather.

Like after the 2008 shootings, NIU will move forward together forward.

{ PS: RE: Williams --- Innocent until found guilty but I also posted in another thread and also months ago why I did not enjoy my one and only personal interaction with EW in his office ten+ yrs ago. He barely gave me the time of day and was not very approachable nor transparent.}

Let's say that they don't find much info on him. Does the board still force him out after? Between all the negative articles in the past about him and now this, he has to be gone. Nothing positive comes from the man.

IMHO: Once his credibility and public reputation has been impinged, it would be difficult for him to continue and have the trust and respect of those he leads.

I wonder how many years does EW has left on his contract? Do I hear a deal being cut with a gag order?
