Reports are saying this will be the new name for the old Big East football conference.

So we will have American 12 and C-USA... I know C-USA used to have Army in it, but if you are going to be called either, you should be required to have a service academy in your conference.

A-12 isn't horrible but it is really close to A-10.

Seems like they put quite a bit of time into coming up with that one...

They need to add a team and be called the America 13, for you history folks, the 13 American colonies. Then they can kick the arses of some British teams just for good measure.

Wasn't Benson considering rebranding also? Maybe we can shoot for 'Merica-USA.

Can't rebrand now, we now have a name more recognizable then the league that Memphis, SMU, Houston, Cincy, UConn are now in.

Will this be a brand new conference or is it legally the "Big East" now under a new name and the C7 are technically a new conference with the "Big East" name??? Someone explain.

The c7 will be a new conference only they get to take the name with them. They will have to hire a commish and vote on bylaws.

They also kept MSG for thier tourney.

Does the American 12 have a current TV deal??? Or is that still up in the air???

Yes, they have a TV deal with ESPN. That didn't change with the name change.

Glad they're distinguishing their 12 American schools from all those other.... American... Schools....?

CUSA teams left there conference to form another conference called America? Funny how all the ex CUSA teams want out and still ended up together! Same can be said about the Sunbelt teams that are leaving as well. In the end all that has changed is the name of the conference and not the teams in it.
