Agreed....during my time in Dekalb that creepy ass building didnt help my fear of the police. The front addition to that dump is uglier than the blue paneled structure.

I know everyone wants them to get EW and Grady, but you better be careful what you hope for. I also have reliable sources telling me that NIU is in deep dodo. Lets hope this doesn't reach the athletic dept. We also need to hope that we don't hear the term lack of Institutional Control.

WBBM this morning said the raid had to do with the police department abusing the background check system on residents of low income housing. Let's see, who was in charge of both police and low income housing?

The Sun-Times mentioned that the probe may center around low-income housing units near the university and the possible use of the police database system (for criminal backround checks) to do background checks on prospective tenants. A specific low-income housing unit was named in the search warrant. The FBI and state police were definitely tipped off by someone.

Is it possible that the wrongfully accused NIU police officer may have been a little willing to pass some information on to the state's attorney and feds?

So using state funded NIU police to do background checks on tenants while running a private business from your NIU state funded office.

I wonder if he used NIU state funded employees to do any maintenance/repair work on his properties?

There was that other guy (under EW) who had the cleaning person go to his house for a few hours a week on NIU time.

So, I realize I'm walking on thin ice here, and some of you won't like the implication, but I wonder whether EW abused his position at NIU to literally recruit for his housing venture, and what effect that has had on recent crime. That would make me much angrier than merely doing private work on state time, or a few bucks a week for a house cleaner.
