Can anyone give me the #'s on the following?

CUSA Exit fee:

Amount each new school had to pay to join the NBE:

Penalty they would pay if they double-backed to CUSA:

THe article implies they'll be splitting 10 million 8 ways for 1.25 million per school.

That's enough money to be independent for a few years until the next round of realignment shakes out (assuming the CUSA six and Navy decide not to join).

Exit fee was 500k + any loss in TV revenues (there has been none).
Don't know what the entry fee to the BE was.
Current BE exit fee is $10 million, but each school has some things in their contracts regarding projected TV revenues.

Sucks for the new schools....Do they get their entrance fees waived?

Yep -- I was pretty much thinking the same. Even before this agreement was announced, I thought Cincinnati brass would explore the "indy" route over playing ball with the proposed conference alignment.

South Florida just received $30M reasons not to play in the same league as Fredo (UCF).

I highly doubt Navy joins. I halfway suspect they'll be an ACC member in some capacity (just a "hunch" speculation, no evidence).

In fact, someone posted a conference line-up in this thread to which I responded that it would never see the light of day...

I hope so...no reason to charge one at this point. They would then be getting a waived entrance fee plus 1.25 million just for joining.

I heard a rumor it was a 5mm buy in. Is that accurate?

No. The entry fee is $2.5M each, spread out over 5 years. The $5M was the fee each school would pay if they didn't join on July 1.

From the AP article:

Quote:The football schools will receive approximately $100 million under the agreement, most of which will go to holdover members Connecticut, South Florida and Cincinnati.

Blaudschun says that each of the Fortunate Three will get $30 million, but he's been a bit too excitable about some of this stuff and it seems likely that his source(s) for his reports are UConn guys.

Maybe he'll turn out to be right, but maybe the final numbers will include a bit more money for the Aresco League newcomers.

Ok. So between the 1.25mm and the increased tv deal, ncaa credits going forward, and likely better bowl setup they probably will end up benefiting from the move after the buy in and travel costs are accounted for.

Blaudschun stated in his article that the total pot of money to be distributed is $114M. Newbies get 10 Mil. Now we are down to 104 to distribute. C7 get 1.5 mil each, so we'll round that to another 10 Mil. We are at 94 million. 3-5 Million for New conference setup, and you are at 89-91 Mil. That's where they are getting 30M each.

If reports are ture this sucks. It is an incredible advantage to have 30 million to recruit..payoff recruits etc.... How can the newbies compete?

Eh, the left behind programs are losing money from the BE destruction while the new guys are improving their situations (ever so slightly) by joining the New Metro so I don't see much of a problem with them keeping the lion share

This payoff won't help them win many games IMO. It will help the bottom line for the next few years but that's about it. Boise, Cincy & USM relatively small budgets haven't stopped them from winning previously.

$30 million isn't that much when a 12-14 million per contract was turned down

Not that much in the grand scheme of conference realignment BS. Probably a competitive advantage within the nBE. I'd rather be Taggert (SIC?) than O'Leary when it comes to recruiting budgets. 04-cheers

haha, but at least UCF can count on the fact that we have the worst AD and athletic department in the nation. That money will be going to Skip Holtz and Jim Leavitt, and help cover any cost of the Sun Dome refurbishment that will not be covered by 1.5k attendance.

And the rest of that money will go to Woolard and Genshaft who will undoubtedly pat them selves on the back for what they view as a huge realignment win.

sigh

edit: but schools joining the BE now are definitely getting shafted. I wouldn't be surprised if the league never comes together because of this. I know they left their leagues because they were expecting a bit more than a $1million lump sum, which they'll have to spend on their exit fees, etc.
