So it was known at that time that Boise State, SD State, Louisville, Notre Dame, Rutgers and the 7 Catholic schools would leave?

Had every right to be excited then.

And have every right to be pleased that with Houston, SMU and Central Florida deciding to leave CUSA, that we are indeed doing the same, even if the destination conference did not turn out to be as strong as we had previously hoped.

Or- Old Dominion is more exciting?

Notre Dame announces move to ACC.
Louisville announces move to ACC.
Catholic 7 announce creation of own conference.
Boise State and San Diego State decide to stay in MWC.
Find out our guaranteed "new" BCS revenue will likely be same as C-USA
Negotiate very small TV deal.
Find out Catholic 7 are leaving a year early.
Sell Big East name.
Find out no more BB tourney at MSG.

What am I missing?

The loss of all our bowl tie-ins (except maybe the Liberty, even that I'm not sure about anymore), that'll be the next thing to go.
