Jason Jude a backup tailback has quit the team. Jason told Croom he thought his expectations were too high for him. ??? What the heck? I hate to lose the young man but it's Croom's way or the highway.

Ok, let's see if I got this right, please someone stop me if I am out of line here..

Coach Croom--"Jason, we expect you to carry the ball towards that endzone"

Jason Jude--"But Coach, you are expecting too much from me as a running back"

Croom--"Ok how about when I tell you to block someone, you block them"

Jude--"But Coach, you are expecting too much from me as a running back, backs don't block, they run the ball towards the endzone"

Croom--"Ok, how about you hold this here clip board"

Jude--"Coach you are killing me here, the expectatations you have put on us, you know, hard work and sacrifice, well I did not come here for that"

Geezus...let 'em quit..At the end of the season the ones who are still there are my MSU Bulldogs..the ones who want to continue to whine, ship them out. If they thought that there was not going to be hard work and sacrifice involved, well we have already seen the exodus of some who thought that. This next recruiting class I think he is going to get some folks who WANT to do just that, otherwise I can't see folks who want to be lazy even thinking about signing with us and I don't want them to. Anyway I digress, I do wish Jude well in his future endeavors and he finds a place he will be comfortable at.

Sounds like the toll of the bad season is weeding out the quitters. If a guy quits on you in a tough situation, he will always quit on you. Sly doesn't need that. He is trying to rebuild something and quitters will not be allowed to participate. I'm sure they are down on themself now, but you can't quit. These kids that stick it out through the tough times will be winners all of their life. The others (like Jude) will have to live with their decision. I made a bad deciaion as a young man, and it has haunted me all of my days. I was offered a scholly to a division II school here in Alabama, a recruiting trip to Wisconsin, and an invitation to "walk on" at Bama. I chose to do none of the above. I've always wondered what I could've done, or what I would be doing now, if I had taken any of the above mentioned. These young men will regret it for the rest of their life. The best thing that could happen is they take a few days to think about it, realize what it means to them, and beg forgiveness from coach Croom.
