Memphis Tiger basketball history:must read
I happened on to this while looking for some info about the SEC inviting Memphis into the SEC and us declining (LOL........happened in the 80's supposedly).

I'm glad I actually tried to find something to validate that claim by a few Tiger fans (didn't find anything).

If you have 10-15 minutes, you should read this and see how much you didn't know or relive some of your Tiger memories.

http://memphisroar.com/basketball/history/

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

M emphis Tiger Men’s Basketball began with a winning season (27-7-1) in 1920-21. Of course, the school was then called West Tennessee State Normal School and focused on teacher education, and the team played in the local “Scholastic League,” (1) with a schedule consisting mostly of area high schools (which were often destroyed by the college players) and the Memphis Y Rangers and UT Doctors, both of whom had the Tigers’ number

people really still dont know that a normal school wasnt college like we know it now? normal schools were considered a junior college but did not have collegiate status - they were the equivilant of todays grades 11-12 with some grade 13 thrown in as well. these werent 21 year olds playing 15 year olds - they were age equivilant. the UT Docs WERE college age

Thanks for the info Jeb, I was wondering what exactly "normal" school was.

One of our esteemed posters on here did that piece. And, provided 45 reference points, including the gotigersgo article. No plagiarism.

If you have 10-15 minutes, you should also read this and see how much you didn't know about the history of baseball:http://bigpaperwriter.com/blog/essay-on-...basketball. You might definitely like that!
