Butler and Dayton aren't catholic, plus its bad for business, why pigeon hole yourself when the BE is what they've always been and people know what that is.

UD is Catholic.
Okay, Butler still isn't though.

Sorry for what may be an ignorant question, but how do the C7 invite anyone to join a conference that hasn't officially begun? Maybe it's explained in the article, which I didn't read, but I don't know how they add to what doesn't yet exist.

It's gonna have a trickle down effect that will reach all the way out to the west coast.

You might be the only one who knows that however. It will be the Catholic conference and most will assume Butler is a Catholic school. Should be interesting what the impact of that will be.

Some were saying Creighton was too far west. I guess they were far too enticing to pass up.

It's a presidential phone call.

Georgetown to Butler: We're splitting from the football schools. You in?
Butler: Yes.
Georgetown: Ok. We'll call you for the press conference.

Notice, no mention in that story of GW, the actual A-10 school Butler was in town to play!

It's driven by a television network, not the "new" conference.

For the short term, it will probably result in a non-Catholic school being the champion of the Catholic Conference for a while. IMO Butler has the strongest basketball program right now...

Bulter was founded by the protestant denomination, Disciples of Christ, same denomination as TCU. Both also have seminaries next to the campus with a history with the DOC. I get the feeling TCU's relationship has been and still is a bit closer to the church.

Can you stop this nonsense already? You are the only one who sees a group of catholic schools playing BBall as a bad thing. No one else cares. Joe Schmoe flipping through the channels sees GTown vs Butler or Nova vs Marquette he's not going to care that they are catholic schools.

That's one of four games. They are about to win the regular season title and fighting for a #1 seed.

I wouldn't say that yet. The additional teams may not be added for a few years. Until that day, I'd be incredulous of any list. Until there's a contract, there is variability. And a few years is an eternity in conference realignment.

Division wise, doesn't there need to be an eastern seaboard team added? Creighton, St. Louis, Butler, Dayton and Xavier are all midewest (in addition to Marquette and DePaul), giving 7 midwest teams.

I like going to 14 eventually with 2 eastern teams. Right now i guess you would put xaiver in the east, easy airport to fly into with the 6 midwestern school's in a division. Of you go to 3 pods of 4. Funny that this a more a midwestern league wanting the name big east.
