As aTxTiger posted, the BE Presidents have scheduled a meeting in Atlanta for tomorrow. Here's what is supposedly going to happen there:

Just split the credits evenly and keep the name.

This goes completely against the strategy of competing on the highest level of fbs.

Because CUSA is such a better option. Tulane is elated to not be in same conference with LaTech and ECU would do cartwheels at being in same conference as Charlotte football.

This! If they have not vetted this before selling the name, and we lose the bid, then Aresco should be fired on the spot.

A few months back, when this possibility was first discussed, someone at ESPN (Andy Katz maybe) stated that the AQ bid would not be lost if the remaining schools lost the Big East name. He actually said even if the conference was dissolved and reformed the bid would remain for one more season. So this should not be an issue (note the PAC 10 changed their name and it did not affect their AQ bid).

Sounds worse than than CUSA and the MAC. Better try to reinvent the South West conference again since most of the teams will be from the the south anyway once UConn and Cinn jump ship.
