I think somebody took one too many bong hits.

Seriously, they want municipal funding for it.

well like USM, Miss. State, Ole Miss, and several other schools, they are under the State College Board. I don't know much about the story but I would think the board would have to sign off on it, and I guess we will see.

I caught pieces of it on the news last night.. I should've paid attention.

They are awaiting the state to approve $75 million and the rest will come from private intities. It'll hold 50k people for football and 20k for basketball... I didn't realize JSU had that kind of following.. Oh the dome will cost $200 million and the same folks who manage the Super Dome will manage it.

RE: OT: JSU Dome?
Speculation on some other boards say -

1. HBCU Classics draw large numbers. They want a new facility for another 'Classic'
2. City of Jackson could use it to host the Ole Miss/ MSU / Southern Miss games.
3. Gives Jackson a large event center.

Only problem with the last two are this... It will be built on JSU's campus. I doubt Ole Miss or MSU will want to travel there to play a game.

And to clarify, the state agreed to fork out the 75 a while back.

So, apparently Jackson State has come up with a ton of money somehow.

JSU has that kind of following for the Alcorn and Southern games--otherwise, it is pretty sad.

J-State is always at the top of FCS as far as attendance is concerned. So I don’t no where this "it is pretty sad" comment comes from. JSU actually set the record for attendance in FCS and broke it and set it again. JSU also hits the road in great numbers also.

Whamp, whamp. C-L on the ball, as always.

Clarion Ledger: "Contrary to an earlier report, the House hasn’t passed a bill to provide bonds for a JSU campus stadium" -- You mean YOUR report.

Average attendance 14,467 ... not bad for 1-AA--but horrible for a team asking for a 50K seat dome in Mississippi.

And yes, their attendance is awful outside of the Southern and Alcorn games. I don't feel like going through the numbers but there have been plenty of games where they have 4-7 K attendance...and that was before halftime.

RE: OT: JSU Dome?
Their attendance was down last year. Thats one year. Southern fans boycotted the game in Jackson this past year and the Alcorn game was played in Lorman. We played JSU in Montgomery and the Grambling game was on the road also.
