One bad game and suddenly Pastner is the worst coach in history again.

3 wins and 12 losses against top 50 ranked teams. I don't think Pastner is horrible, he really has improved quite a bit. Still, the numbers speak for themselves. When you have top 10 talent you should at least be able to compete against the top 50.

Heck, Cuonzo Martin has been popping off top 25 teams right and left over his two year stint with a far inferior roster.

Dude, look at the entire body of work. If you want home wins vs. top 25 teams, but not NCAA tournament appearances, then go hire Martin. I'd take the opposite if I had to choose between the two.

I certainly wouldn't want Cuonzo Martin. His style of basketball looks pretty boring and he loses to more bad teams than he beats good teams. I don't want ONE or the OTHER. I want something in the middle.

Cuonzo also has three losses to Pastner. The 3-12 thing that Vernon has been spouting is so far from accurate that it's laughable. Memphis has 9 top fifty wins over three years, not 3.

Ok so checking into it, apparently he is basing that on end of the season stats by Jerry Palm. There ya go.

You negative clowns keep wishing him gone...you may just get your wish. You guys see us win 18 straight?

he'll have a better roster next year, and a tougher schedule. If he wins 18 straight, then I'll officially be sold on his as our coach.

We both know that's not going to happen. Big east will still be a top conference next year, for 2013 at least. But yeah he'll need to have a good year. Personally, I think playing in cusa hurts us and doesn't prepare us for the tourney at all. Good riddance cusa....well some of it

No its not, and that's why I don't fawn over the 18 straight. Memphis running roughshod over CUSA is the equivalent of CBHS dominating inner city MCS schools in football. Yeah, the record looks great, but it doesn't exactly prepare you for Brentwood Academy, either.

I think the lack of talent and overall attention to basketball in CUSA is borderline inexcusable, and I'm ready to bolt.

Ok so I just heard...he is leaving to go to USC. He is taking Jackson, Black, Crawford and Barton. They will be eligible to play next year because they are graduating this year. In addition all the signees are leaving to go with him because he has a new clause in the letter of intent that allows the player to follow the coach.

Somebody quick get a camera on the door!

On a serious note I am a Pastner fan. If you plot a trend line where we started to where he is taking us, it is outstanding. He has laid a great foundation for the future.

Hell no.

I question whether some of you have permanent brain damage wishing/wanting/hoping/plotting trades in which Pastner leaves Memphis.

I am pretty sure none of the recruits who have signed would be willing to sit out a year for Pastner.
Iverson has a possible pro career, he isnt sitting out. Nichols will be staying at Memphis as the other Memphis signees regardless of the coach.
Bring in a good coach and I am more than willing to make that trade.

Yea, we got it the first 5 times you said it.

The thing that really gets me, no matter who the next coach might be, the same people who absolutely adore Pastner were the same people who absolutely adored Cal, and they will absolutely adore the next coach, so they will lose nothing. They will still have a Coach who is beyond reproach and the Tigers will actually have a good coach to lead us to where we should be.

I don't buy this idea that so many Memphis fans secretly hated Calipari while he was here. We all bowed at his feet, just like they're doing in Lexington now, whether we want to admit it or not.

It blows my mind how many Memphis fans came out after he left, talking about how they never liked him and they're glad he's gone.

I loved Calipari, and I like Pastner. Just saying Memphis fans lie to themselves.

Why can't I support the coach of my basketball team? I think Josh is awesome. I believe we played a bad game last night. I think calling for Josh to leave is DESPICABLE. He is about to get his 100th win as a head coach. Only stupid people don't understand that it is an accomplishment. They are the same people that make degrading remarks about our basketball players. Negative Nellies!

Apparently I have unreasonable expectations, beating some top teams from time to time and winning a few games in the tournament from time to time.

Wow, I have such unreasonable expecations...

I love all coaches as long as they win. I loved Calipari and defended him proudly between 2005-06 and 2008-09. Not so much during parts of his first five years here.
