I question that, too. In a fairly recent earlier thread, some were suggesting names for this. I thought at the time that we've already been just a *little* too inclusive (but I won't name names). Even Power and (Toohey) Reid I think would be borderline, and I thought they both were fantastic. If you put in (Toohey) Reid, then you've *got* to put in Oscar immediately when he becomes eligible, and probably 2-3 of the Eastern European women, too. And if you put in Power, shouldn't some of the earlier Irish Brigade guys so far left out be there, too?

I thought DeChellis did a great job here, but his dishonesty as he applied for the Penn St. job left a really bad taste in my mouth - even to the point that I would think that should disqualify him from my perspective, since I think his selection is stretching the definition of "Hall of Fame" anyway.

I'm not *really* saying any of these folks shouldn't be there; they were all good enough by some definitions. I just tend to be a little strict about Hall of Fame stuff - and that includes baseball, etc.

I am glad others spoke up, I was going to say something when I first posted the story but figured I would have to endure a long tirade about being anti DeChellis. But 1 NCAA appearance (yeah I know they went back the next year with "his" team but sorry doesn't count on his record)
and only a 53% win rate with a short tenure doesn't really seem HOF worthy to me either.

The there is no way DeChellis has hall of fame credentials. He wasn't around long enough...and in the years he was around, his accomplishments don't rank. It is not good to water down the hall of fame. Nominating so many in one year is bogus. Look at baseball...over a hundred years worth of candidates yet no player was nominated last year. I applaud that kind of selectivity. Be careful or we might see water boys being nominated.

They went 6-7 years with NOBODY getting put in, 6 people is just catching up for Mullins falling down on the job.

I guess this (DeChellis' induction) means that Bartow is a future Hall of Famer.

Sadly, however, you might be right. If *that* happens, the ETSU Hall of Fame has ceased to have meaning or legitimacy.

For what? DeChellis is probably the weakest on the list not the best list in the wold but certainly not the worst.
