Everybody has to have their own thread so that as many people as possible see their opinion.

This is why I miss the dewey decimal system. No order.

Goodman is selling something. And you're buying it even though you hate what he's selling. Whose the sucker in that situation?

So sorry, didn't know that only certain people could offer opinions on here. Yep....look at me look at me....see my middle finger?

All opinions are relevant and interesting to me. I simply don't understand why so many thoughts that can be filed under existing threads deserve their own thread.

I can only postulate that it's a part of the facebook/twitter/pinterest/reddit - look at what I am having for breakfast generation.

Some pretty interesting papers have been written about it - I've read them, but I'm still trying to understand.

Heh.....do you have any idea how long it's been since I've even checked twitter or how infrequently my facebook status is updated?

The fact is, this wasn't a look at me thread. This was a 'calm the hell down' thread. Considering the half dozen or so "We suck, the season is over, welcome to the NIT" threads it landed in between. I though it worth posting.

I would suggest you try to use DSM-IV on me a bit less. You're simply making assumptions.

Two point road loss to a top 100 team...

No disrespect intended, but that type of stretching to justify a miserably played game that we lost is just not much of a compliment---in my opinion.

Can the NIT talk and calm the hell down.

Correct.

It's amazing how much our expectations have changed over the last 10 years.

It was a miserably played game. However, the NET RESULT was a 2 point road loss to a top 100 team. When the record is posted there is no comment next to the Xavier game stating "Memphis played like four month old recycled asscrack in this game!!!!"

Again the reason for this thread- We won 18 straight and people act like the 18 straight wins no longer count....only the loss. This is a 'keep some f'in perspective' thread.

Nope, they are all just saying...

"Once again Pastner steps out of the comfort zone of beating up the little guys in the small pond and gets beat by a middle of the pack A-10 team". He has proven it, beyond a shadow of a doubt, he can beat up all day long on CUSA and struggle mightly against mid-level teams from other conferences.

sadly due to the situation the 18 in a row doesnt mean crap anymore. The one lost kills all momentum. The perception is we beat up on cusa but cant compete with legit teams.

The only perception that matters is the one the Selection Committee has, and if you know what they are thinking then you might want to head to Vegas and lay down some money. All streaks end, time to start a new one.

Last night's game was a Jekyll and Hyde performance. Awful first half, explosive second half, odds are, they still don't know what to make of this team.

Quit reading Goodman.....You seen the RPIs of Ohio, Harvard, and UT lately? We will likely have a couple more top 50 wins by the ends of the season.

I'm sure the selection committee is going to ignore an 18 game win streak.

The team is 24-4 with no bad losses and people are acting like the sky is falling.

The game sucked last night but it does NOT define the season.

About 35 years ago, I figured out that the way to truly enjoy college athletics (and perhaps life in general) is to CELEBRATE THE WINS AND FORGET THE LOSSES. Feel sorry for those who do the reverse (dwell on the losses and forget the wins).

Nope it doesn't define the season, it defines the entire Pastner era.
People arent basing this off one game, they are basing this on a multitude of games over 4 seasons. 0-11, 3-12 against end of the season top 50 over the past 3 seasons. Nothing to pat yourself on the back about for certain.

the season has been defined by not just losing to out of conference foes, but looking totally disoriented and like they have never had any instruction during these losses.

Curious where you get 3-12 over four seasons vs the top fifty when they had five top 50 wins just last season as well as two so far this season and two in 10-11.....9 is more than three.

You could say this about every teams losses since Naismith invented the game. Not alot of well-coached losses out there.

That was something Vernon was repeating over and over on his show today based on some end of the season (not at the time of playing). Also not including Pastner's first season since Vernon was giving him a by for the first.
