My question: Why did we really go to war with Iraq?

Those questions presume that he is the one who 1) let 9/11 happen, and 2) bankrupted the GSE's. I don't think that is the case.

My question has already been asked by Paul Burka, a Rice classmate and liberal democrat and writer for Texas Monthly. In 2000, he famously supported Bush over Gore, primarily based on Bush's performance as governor. A few years later, he wrote a column entitled,

Who are you and what have you done to my governor?

Bush as governor was quite different from Bush as president. He was bipartisan, worked well with democrats, got things done well enough that even 12 years of Rick Perry has not been enough to screw it all up. In many ways, Bush as governor was like Bill Clinton as president. I think the difference was Cheney (and am told by friends of hers that Barbara Bush agrees with me). So maybe my question would be,

Why Cheney?

But I guess the real question I would have is,

In 2000, you said you were going to reduce the size of the federal government and get us out of the nation-building business. You then proceeded to preside over the largest expansion of the federal government in history and launched two major nation-building efforts. WTF were you thinking?
