I mean one year equals to the course of someone else's career.

well played sir...they display nothing on the fact plate sometimes...it's like, "hey, it's my ball, my court, my world."

I see Hammond staring them in the face and saying, "So? Bye now?" It's funny to me that the same people that expect change, don't want to change."

I know that mid-week games are a little weird with the pitching staff and all, but we beat #8 ranked Ole Miss 4-3 in Oxford last night.

The Tigers and the conference take any top 10 win we can get at this point, especially on the road.

Xactly! In the end, I don't think when they look at w/l, they go....hmmm, how many did they lose on tuesday? I mean, it's basically 20 percent of the games played....you have to plan for that don't ya?

....was really happy to see you guys win last night

I have always believed that baseball coaching has the least impact of the three major sports and that it more involves synergy of personality between the players and coaches. However, if the next 20 games yield a .500 win percentage, Berry is in big trouble.

It's funny, after the '11 season, everyone said we better give Berry a raise or we would lose him

You maybe???, but, no, not everyone. I was upset that after Corky left that we didn't do a better search for a head coach for baseball. But I guess it is the USM thing to do....

I actually wasn't one of them since I don't place a whole lot of emphasis on the coach when it comes to baseball. i.e Matheny taking over for La Russa coupled with Pujols departure and Carpenter going down...they still did pretty good didn't they?

I have acknowledged some of his questionable decision making moves, but he doesn't make the errors. He doesn't coach the base paths....and he doesn't hit the ball. Now he does control how we approach the plate, and that is a concern (to much Geppetto IMO)

Something people forget is the recent change in bat composition (BBCOR...in effect, engineering the composition of metal and making it closer to the reaction of wood) and how that has impacted the collegiate game. Some high schoolers cannot make that transition along with other factors....it would be like a golfer going back in time and playing with old technology. So, the point would be the "talent" sometimes does not transfer. ...ah, our supposed talent

Think you are using too much of an MLB view on the role of the baseball coach. I have always thought the difference in titles was telling: MLB "managers" are just that. They manage personalities and make the on-field decisions. Especially for an organization with the depth and talent that the Cards have, there is little development or "coaching up" to be done for a MLB manager.

College coaches, on the other hand, actually coach the players. Whereas in-game decision making constitutes the majority of a MLB manager's work, that is a small fraction of a college coach's. Above all, they are responsible for recruiting players and the development of those players. They also have a greater say in hiring and firing assistants than MLB coaches do. Hell, they even take care of the field!

Granted, baseball coaches may have less of a role than football or basketball head coaches, but to say that they mainly handle synergy of personalities is way off (in my opinion). True for the majors, not for college or the minors.

Regarding the BBCOR bats, are high school players not using BBCOR bats? If they are not, why the hell not?!!

I will change to "psyche" from "personality" for argument's sake....same to me

2012 is when they had to change...hence the psyche of it...our recruits are pre-2012

-Not sure how that makes a difference in regard to the difference between college coaches and MLB managers. College coaches are responsible for pretty much everything you said.

-Still can't believe they waited until 2012 to make high schools change. Should have done it in 2011 when colleges made the change.
