in the NFL draft.

He is rising like a rocket.

Pulling into a dead head with Joeckel as possibly the #1 overall pick.

RE: Sorry, I can't find the other thread but NOW Fisher is a possible #1 OVERALL
It looks like the Chiefs may trade for Alex Smith which would eliminate taking a QB #1. That would make the logical choice a LT. It's clearly Fisher and Joeckel as the two best OTs in the draft. Fisher's showing at the Senior Bowl really put him in a position to be considered with the top pick. Fisher also outperformed Joeckel in nearly every category at the combine. I'm not counting on Fisher going #1 overall, but he won't make it out of the top 5.

I'm hearing Stanford's Lennay Kekua, is now pushing Fisher for the #1 spot.

I was hoping the Lions might be able to trade down from #5 to someone looking for a LT....until Dee Milner ran a 4.3 40. Shoulder surgery aside....a big, fast shutdown corner would be a nice pick for the Lions.

I was hoping Jones would go under the radar and the Rams would pick him up at 16. Not happening now.

First mock draft I've seen with Fisher going #1.

The best news about all of this? If Fisher goes #1 overall, Toledo will be able to put it in their 2014 recruiting video.

He could go first in the 3rd round and they'd still claim he went 1st overall, leaving out the fine print of "in the 3rd round".03-shhhh

We've had six Number one overall drafts in the NFL as is, why not another to go with John Schneider and Dan Williams' NFL MVP awards and Gradkowski's three Super Bowl triumphs? Video edits starting in 3-2-1.....

I'm in a distinct minority, but I like Chance Warmack who was called on the NFL network the best player in the draft.

Reggie Bush to replace Best and Warmack to block for him. 03-cloud9

Who is going to stop the other team from scoring?

EMU fans are used to poor defenses. :(

I would not be in favor of taking an OL at #5 unless Joeckel or Fisher is there and you firmly believe they can be your LT for the next 10-15 years. An OG at 5? No...I wouldn't do it. I would like to see them picking from a group of Milliner, Werner, Ansah or Fisher. I guess Iwoulod pick Milliner or Fisher because I'm not sure the DE's available have as much value as a shutdown CB or a LT.

Where I disagree with folks is that Warmack might be the guess OG in the last say 10 years.

I say go with the best available player.

What I don't understand is why OGs don't get the luv:

LT obviously has the QB blind side but to me a really good OG is a priority as he blocks a DT.

DTs can cause problems by crushing the pocket and preventing the QB from stepping up into it.

ALSO: DL and OL are both very deep in this draft. Lions can do well at the top of the 2nd.

RE: Sorry, I can't find the other thread but NOW Fisher is a possible #1 OVERALL
I heard an NFL scout say today that the issue is that previous OG's taken early have had spotty success, and teams would rather take a chance on a "skill" player than a position that is often injured. They are valuable, of course, but teams don't want to risk a high pick on them. I have no idea if that is smart or not. A solid OL is of primary performance.

Yeah...I could be too conventional in my thinking....Warmack would have to be awfully good to go that high. You could probably trade out a few slots to someone looking for a LT and still get him.

I'm not really sure, but I would guess it's because on the interior portion of the line you can get help and double team any pass rushers. OTs are typically going to be faced with 1v1 situations. Another factor may be that it takes more athleticism in addition to size to play OT as you're going to be getting the faster/quicker pass rushers coming off the edge. That combination of size AND athleticism is probably more rare, therefore making it harder to find quality OTs rather than just guys with size to play on the interior.

That would be my guess anyways.
