Let them get it in while they can, we are about to have access to a higher level of talent in the "big leagues" as one of them put it.
Did I miss the news release? Has the nbe invited ECU to play basketball?

Either way we are back in the top 100 for the 2nd time in 3 years, and unlike the 49ers, we have a little history under our coach of playing our best ball late the previous two years, not peaking early and fading. We'll see what happens but with Akeem finally getting minutes to show what he can do I expect that trend continues.

From an RPI and attendance perspective, it's ironic that the Pirates are still up in the air about their basketball invitation.

Per Holkand it's coming soon. They pretty much have to know or we wouldn't go is my guess

It's not up in the air. Holland's indicated as much and Aresco has already said we are in in several interviews and that's good enough for me. The reason it's not official from what we've been told has to do with the split of the C7 and waiting for that to all be resolved I believe this summer.

Still the wait makes you think it wont happen. Its BS we didn't get it outright to begin with.

It's fine dude. Pretty clear the C7 was the ones against us and they will be gone soon enough. We just have to wait for the dust to settle on the legal issues when they split and get all of that resolved.

The only way ECU won't be in is if they decide they don't want to be in...which won't happen.

In all seriousness I think it will happen, and I do not understand why the nbe keeps you hanging like this. It's kind of disrespectful. This isn't good for ECU or the nbe, but it is hard to make the case that Aresco has a real good handle on any of this.

Poking at the Pirates about loading up on Div III and NAIA teams is fun because it is true, and because Still Jonesing has such a Leboner in spite of it.

If we were going to be in the same conference next year I would welcome some good smack wars, but honestly you will be no more relevant to us in the nbe than you were to us while we have been in the A-10. I can't see us playing each other in basketball or football for years and that is a shame.

The fact that the BE hasn't already invited ECU's other sports, even if that is their intent sooner or later, speaks volumes.

First off I've never defended playing those games. I've said multiple times it was a stupid waste of time to play them this year with the kind of talent we have. I've also been disgusted by Lebo's rotations the last two years. Ask anyone that post on our private board. I screamed all last year to play Kemp more. I even got banned this year from my first message board ever for arguing with real Lebo appoligist. That was a board I was a member for for 8 years and paid $120 dollars a year to post on just to give you an idea of my level of frustration with the rotations. I was hammering Lebo for not playing Akeem Richmond as far back as early December, and I can be plenty critical when it's deserved and it's been well deserved. He's cost us games even if overall we have still been moving forward in a positive direction. We are making progress but it's hard to look at talent like Kemp last year or Richmond this year wasted away on the bench and to not be objective.

They can't. The C7 doesn't want us and they have to wait until they leave. Simple as that. One thing is for sure though, our ticket is punched before everyone else waiting, so maybe that speaks volumes as well by comparison.

FTR I think Lebo has been a very good recruiter, x&o guy and motivator. I have zero problems with any of that, but I will never understand his rotations the last two years. I just hope there isn't another all conference caliber player playing 15 minutes a game next year and I got zero complaints.

Can I make a prediction here:

ECU will lose 2/3 of their next games and celebrate making the CBI or CIT

That could happen but then we will just beat UAB in the conference Tourney and then celebrate.

I can definitely back up SJ on this one. No ECU messageboard poster has dedicated more time than SJ when it comes to complaining about Basketball scheduling and the coaching of Lebo.

Everyone knows I'm no SJ fan; BUT, I will say I have seen him bash Lebo's rotations and scheduling on plenty of occasions. While he and 49er posters will clash when he keeps talking basketball smack to us, I will echo that he isn't completely blind to Lebo's faults.

And yet he slams Major, the coach that constantly beats Lebo. Go figure.

Anyway, I hope the Pirates end up where they want.

Slam-"ed", as in past tense, and he deserved it too the first two years turning a program that was top 75 when he got there returning most of the players into a 200 type one. I haven't said anything about him this year other than point out his lack of a recruiting class in the fall. Unless he completely tanks it the rest of the year the job he has done on the court with your team has been excellent IMO. No one expected you guys to do much of anything, even your fans, so he's certainly done well.

He had to basically gut the team, so, yeah, that takes a while to rebuild. This year has been a surprise, but folks expecting NCAAs may have been drinking a little to much green Kool-Aid. No matter how he finishes this year he is safe, imo. No way we can afford to pay three coaches at the same time. Most see next year as NCAAs or bust for Major.

-With the win over SMU, ECU assured itself of a winning season for the second time in three years under coach Jeff Lebo. The Pirates had 13 consecutive non-winning seasons prior to his arrival.
-ECU's 4 Conference USA road victories are the most since joining the league
-ECU was won five road games this season, the most since winning five during the 1998-99 campaign.
-Against SMU, ECU came from 17 points down for the second time this season. They were down 17 at home to UCF before rallying for an 88-85 overtime win. The comeback was the largest road deficit overcome in the last 30 years.
-Junior Akeem Richmond set the school-record and tied the CUSA record for 3s in a game with nine against SMU.

We temporarily lose the thorn in our side Memphis next season, but some good programs are joining. Hope we can continue to improve next season and make a run for the NIT at least.

If the season ended today, both ECU Men's & Women's Basketball team would earn first round byes in the C-USA Tournament. We're not the best team by far, but it's nice to not be the cellar-dweller in the league!

Love it..........Pirates Supporting Pirates.........An $18 million upgrade to our basketball facilities and with Coach Lebo as our head coach the sky will be the limit..........Go ECU Pirates!
