I thought he got some good sky there. I've watched him show some great hops.

Should prob cut the clip so as not to show the player went and scored while DJ was still up in the air though.

heh. I was going to reply, "perimeter defense. you're doing it wrong", but I was too impressed with the sheer altitude to want to quibble.

With all due respect, I think that you may have given credence to something other than what you intended.

You searched the world over and found one video of a Russian league game that might be as impressive as a Memphis player's leap. Randy Culpepper had a great career at UTEP; he was one of CUSA's best and had a personal hand in ending our conference winning streak in a tie of the all-time NCAA record.

However, the ironic thing is you've chosen a Memphis Sheffield High alum to downplay a Memphis Tiger's leap.

From memory, so this isn't a perfect synopsis, but close.......
There was a column in this morning's paper where the writer discussed him chasing a ball out of bounds where he jumped over the first row of seats, continued to soar over the second row, and had to pick where he landed in/over the third row because of where a kid was sitting. When asked if he could choose where he landed, his answer was something like "usually, yes."

I might travel also if a cross between a man and a helicopter came that close to my head. :)

DJ has a unique leaping ability that, in a city full of pretty good leapers, I haven't seen before. Because of lingering and recurring injuries, he doesn't practice regularly, so he's not polished like most NBA hopefuls. He wasn't recruited but by a very small number of D1 programs, so he was and has remained a pretty humble guy that's great with kids and fans.

With his unique ability and likable personality, local speculation is that he'd be a natural with the Globetrotters.

Michael Wilson isn't getting any younger...actually, he isn't with the Globetrotters anymore. I would actually throw Wilson out there as competition to DJ's leaping supremacy.

I love DJ, but energy and athleticism alone won't cut it in the NBA. I would love to see him get a chance, but don't think his skills are nearly polished enough.

The Culpepper dunk that was linked...eh. The 6'7" guy ducked a lot to avoid a face full of nuts. The USM player ran under Stephens.

Yes, you're right and there's just not much of a way that he could take the NBA pounding day in and day out.

To me the guy does the complete opposite than ducking, he jumps in the air. Anyways, I wonder how it feels to be able to jump like dj and randy

Surely you've been on one of these...

Alas, I used to be able to dunk. Those days are long gone.
