You would think that our fans learned a lesson last year.

Just look at the teams that are on the 4 and 3 seed lines... a lot of those teams have already loss since the last Bracketology. 3 seed Syracuse Loss at home to GTown, 4 seed Butler loss to St Louis at home. The Next 2 weeks could see a lot of teams losing to one another and a bad loss here and there, a 3 seed in the south is a strong possiblity for the Tigers if they run te Table.

I agree with tigerderek.

Even if MEMPHIS totally runs the table all the way to cutting down the nets in Tulsa on March 16 and have a 31-3 record, projected 12 RPI, projected # 11 ranking, winners of 23 straight since Mid December, C-USA regular season and tournament champion....I think the bias against C-USA as well as Pastner with no NCAA skins on the wall will result in the TIGES getting a 4 seed at BEST.

More than likely, a 31-3 MEMPHIS squad will draw a 5 seed. The NCAA knows there is almost always a 5-12 match that results in an upset, so MEMPHIS will be slotted against the premier 12 seed team.

Win that game, and they face the # 4 seed.

Win that game and they face the # 1 seed in the Sweet 16.

Keep in mind, that is *IF* the TIGERS run the table. Each loss = a seed drop IMHO. 30-4 = 6 seed. 29-5 = 7 seed. Fair? Of course not. If you seek "fair", wait until September and there will be one out at the Agricenter.

But keep the faith. Imagine the publicity if MEMPHIS comes out angry, destroys 12 seed St. Mary's, whips # 4 seed Pittsburgh, advances to the Sweet 16 and loses a tough OT thriller to # 1 seed Michigan State. MEMPHIS and Pastner will have "perceived credibility" as they move into the Big East with a highly experienced team in 2013-14.

if they seeded the tourney like they did national rankings that would be true. but barring total meltdowns we can't pass those teams, they'll have like 8-9 top 50 wins and an equally good rpi and ranking

Syracuse losing to the #11 team in the country doesn't mean that they will drop. Remember, last year a lot of folks had us as a 6. The Selection Committee didn't view us as favorably and our resume isn't that different this year.

true, but we may have these things on our side this year. zero cusa losses, zero true road losses.....huge winning streak....top 25 ranking...5 seed is my guess if all that happens

And this.

Last year the Tigers had 3 losses in C-USA, the most daming one was Feb.18th 2012 at home against UTEP(bad loss). This year on selection Sunday if the Tigers are 16-0 In C-USA, no bad losses, no road losses and a 25 games winning streak no way this resembles last year. Stevie wonder can see that.
Lets just beat the next team, Xavier, the seeding will take care of itself. I'm sorry I'm on the 3rd glass of Koolaid and as a matter of fact pass me another one04-cheers

A lot of good points tiger fans...first lets just win baby! A 3 seed isn't gonna happen as far as the original post goes though so let's stop thinking that.

I agree with this except for the strong possibility....I'd say slight. More likely we end up as a 4-5, but a 3 is possible if everything breaks right for us

I don't think a 3 seed is even possible now thanks to the refs in the Louisville game.

We won't be a 3 seed. Very unlikely we'll be a 4 seed. I think 5 is the best we can hope for at this point.

It's just the way the cookie crumbles.

RE: If Tigers win out they should be at least a 3 seed.
Even with the 09 and 07 teams gaining 2 seeds with what would be somewhat similar profiles, I do not see it. Profile will be a bit short of those and the CUSA backlash is even stronger this year- plus we do not have the 06 and 08 teams as immediate reputation builders for what should be an unrelated season.

It will also be very difficult to win out...still.

Ranking should bump up a bit again. Won two games over winning teams, one of them a really good team (not a great team).

The two teams right behind Memphis lost...Pitt and Colo State (using USA Today's 19 ranking).

18 Ohio State plays at Mich State today.
17 Wisconsin won this week
16 NMX won twice
15 Butler lost
14 OK State lost and won
13 KState won twice
12 Arizona won twice

Likely that Butler and OK State will fall a bit- and if they lose, even at highly rated Michigan State, Ohio State may fall a tiny bit.

Memphis could be anywhere from 19 to 16 this coming week, in which we play two road games against good, although again, not great teams.

I'll guess 17.

I'll think what I want, thankya.. I think I agree that if we win out and push for a top 10 ranking there is a decent chance for a 3 seed.

Who knows what the committee will do. Their criteria seems to change from year to year. A lot of politicking behind closed doors.

I just hope we play somewhere relatively close. The 5 seed in Kansas City would be good, however like some on the board I dread the upset prone 5/12 matchup. Being in San Jose would be awful. Dayton, KC, and I guess at the outside Austin would be the best places for us to play.

Good point.

This year nothing is super close...

KC, Austin, Dayton and Lexington closest.
SJose, Philly, SLake City or Auburn Hills would be a bummer for travel.

2014 brings St. Louis into the mix for early rounds, and of course Memphis hosts the regionals which means, no Memphis region for us.

Yeah I forgot about Lexington, though if we have to go there, there might be several arrests for defecating in public 05-stirthepot
