Marshall, Southern Miss, UTEP, Tulsa, UAB and Rice will each will be making more money than any of the departing schools in the next 7-10 years with the collection of exit fee and entry fee monies.

Have fun going on the road to play Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday night games for ESPN. You guys can have that sh*t.

Out of all of what you said, the weekday games would be my number one concern.

Weekday games were a crippler for us. I live here, but so many of the people I tailgate with do not. One family drives from Atlanta every home game.

This contract would cost us season ticket sales and gate receipts no differently than Wed bb attendance is lower than Sat bb attendance due to our high baptist populous.

I can't speak for the other schools and to be honest, it may not impact those that left. For us it would be counterproductive and cost us money through lost revenue.

After years of sitting through 30 degree or colder weather attending the Liberty Bowl (game, not stadium), sitting through extended TV commercials, extended half times, etc; I came to the realization that the game was no longer played for the paying fans.

Who in their right mind would schedule a night game in Memphis in an open-air stadium at 7:00PM? TV networks.

That was about 30 years ago. I was sitting through an extended TV time out in an ice covered stadium at about 8:00 PM watching ND/BC playing wondering if I could find a cup of hot coffee anywhere in the stadium and pour it on my feet to thaw them when I realized that I wasn't important in the equation. The important guy was sitting on his couch in a heated den about 10 steps from a refrigerator, personal bathroom and a thermostat that he could adjust at his whim.

FWIW, I decided that if I could even find a cup of hot coffee and poured it on my feet, it would only freeze in about 10 minutes making the situation worse, so I walked the stadium for 15 minutes to get them off of the block of ice they were on.

It's a shame what college sports has had to become to maintain competitive on the field and in TV ratings. Frankly, even for Memphis games, I now attend at my convenience and not the TV networks whim. Depending on the opponent, if it's an 7:00 game, raining, 50 degrees; it will be a toss-up whether or not I'll be there. Some may call me a fair weather fan, but my feet appreciate it.

I also sat through that miserable winter experience. Never again. The next time I watched a game when it was that cold outside......I was INSIDE Ford Field in Detroit.

The thought of pouring hot coffee over my feet was real. I'm pretty sure that I would have done it if I hadn't thought it would have just frozen over and made the situation worse.

I poured hot coffee on my feet once while rafting down the Nantahala River years ago.

48°F water is heart-stopping cold.
