I remember him just blowing by some people for absolutely brutal dunks. Kinda surprised me because I thought of him as a shooter type but he was pretty athletic.

McCrea has put up 65 points, 25 rebounds, 12 blocks, and 4 steals against Kent State this year. Seeing him twice would you still leave him out of the first team all MAC?

I'm not trying to make an argument for MAC POY although I think there is one to be made. I think it should go to Cooper or Zeke based on their body of work this year and throughout their careers.

Treadwell is a good player but McCrea is better. He scores more points, grabs more rebounds, dishes out more assists, blocks more shots, and steals more passes, all while being a more efficient from the field and from the free throw line, and he only plays 2 more minutes per game. McCrea is double teamed everywhere he goes and he still puts up outstanding numbers.

I don't deny that I'm biased, but I think McCrea is one of the best talents the MAC has seen in years.

Tree is one of the most mentally tough players I have ever seen. I'm not saying McCrea is weak, but Tree is a beast.

I still think when it comes to the All-MAC team it will be Cooper, Marshall, Pearson, Evans, & McRae. But I still think the voters might make a case for another Akron player first-team, and Treadwell is deserving. As is Abreau.

Maybe it's that I thought McRae would be better by now. He certainly is All-MAC caliber, easily, but when he was a freshman, I thought he had potential to an NBA early entry, but he has not progressed to that level yet. I don't think he is the best player in the MAC (given that it is hard to compare players who have vastly different roles) but I think he should be. There just seems to be something missing. It's a faint complaint. I'll take him on my team any day, and if he played against everyone like he plays against KSU, there would be no question.

35 points, 12 assist, and eight blocks.... Year McCrea is clearly under performing. A dounble double is pretty much where he starts every pther night..

RE: MBB: Player of the Year
Like I said, if he put up numbers like he does vs. KSU, I would think differently about him overall, but those games are obviously not typical.

And I think he is a top flight MAC player, and you could make a case he is the best big man in the conference, but it's not clear cut. He's UB's go-to guy, so he is going to put up better numbers than the bigs on teams with better surrounding players. And I know, the counter-argument is that he does it playing with inferior talent, but it does help his stats to be the guy UB looks to.

Is the problem here that I am not praising him enough? Like I said, he'll most likely will be 1st team All-MAC. I just raised the possibility that some voters might put a 2nd Akron player on first team and that might be Treadwell, who is deserving as well.

Being the "go to" guy is a double edged sword and you know it. Until Watson got hot two weeks ago McCrea was our only offensive player and was jamed down low by two guys because of it.

Not only do I agree, that's what I said.

You implied that it helps your stats, I say its generally a wash. Because yes you will get more touches but you'll be mugged the whole time you have the ball. (look at Kool with WMU a few years back).

I took your statements as "well 10-15 double doubles is not all that much if you're the only person. Im rocking 2.5 hours of sleep so maybe I am a bit punchy.

RE: MBB: Player of the Year
After watching the Akron - Ohio game replay, I can see why Treadwell has a following. Zeke is probably only the third most valuable player on his own team. Zeke is good but Akron is helped more by the play of Abreau and Treadwell than Zeke. Hate to say it, but Akron has great talent overall. Dambrot seems to out coach Christen every time.
