This is kind of random (I'm watching Valparaiso/Eastern Kentucky on ESPNU), but what is WKU's relationship with EKU? Any kind of rivalry with them?

EKU may as well be a high school team. We pay no attention to them, whatsoever. They're so far below us.

There used to be when WKU was in the OVC, especially in football. That no longer exists though.

EKU is in Richmond, KY (20 miles south of Lexington). There were some who suggested EKU move to FBS but I don't see it ever working. It'd be kind of like the situation with poor Eastern Michigan. They're about 10 miles form the University of Michigan and their attendance is one of the worst in all of FBS. EKU draws well but they're FCS so there's no conflict with Big Brother 20 miles away...except when the games are played at the same time. I lived in Richmond for a little while and it's almost as UK blue as Lexington.

I remember some issue with EKU and the OVC tournament title game, IIRC, in Richmond in '79(?)...I know there was no love lost there...

Come on now, you sound like the big blue idiots I detest. EKU has a good basketball team this year and apparently better than us right now. Their athletics programs have stagnated for the most part. They use to be a big rival of ours but other than hoops, currently at least, they have not made much progress and their facilities are not the best. They do have a better golf team than we do and they are only one of 18 schools with a PGA program for kids interested in a golf based career.

That might be an understatement to what's actually happening. I saw somewhere else that ULM only brought 7 players.

Chip said ULM only took 7 to WKU on Thursday. I'm not at the game, but a friend there said they had 8 or 9 dressed.

Final: 87-46, MT

Kinda felt bad for them. They may have dressed 8 or 9 but several had to be walk ons. It could have been much worse.

yeah Kermit put in walkon Zane Gibson with over six minutes left, but it was about the same with South Alabama, a much better team. Not sure the competition had much to do with the margin. The Raiders are playing great right now...

ASU Beats Troy 58-50 in Jonesboro and clinches the West Division title and the #2 seed in Hot Springs.

Troy fans will be pleased to know that Don Maestri basically sat on the bench the entire game and let hsi assistants coaching. Troy, like they always do against us, kept it close late, and it was their top assistant calling all the timeouts. I dont think Maestri left his seat the entire game.

RE: MBB Games Today - Saturday 2/23/2013
Seeding for tourney is much clearer now:

Barring a miracle win against MTSU or USA, Troy is going to be the 10 seed. They are a half game up on UNT, but lose all tiebreakers, so the only way they have a shot is to hope UNT loses to ASU Thursday, and they pull off a massive upset over MTSU or USA. Thaat should lock UNT into the 9 seed, as I dont see them passing ULL with the Cajuns still having a game at home with ULM left.

Only real battle left is the battle for that final 1st round bye. UALR's recent sucktitude has dropped them into a tie with WKU for the 5th seed. Problem is that UALR owns all tiebreakers, and still has ULL and ASU at home left. The Toppers meanwhile host USA and MTSU...yikes. FIU can lock up the 4 seed with a win at Monroe Thursday.

Theoretically if South Alabama was to lose to WKU on Thursday, it would actually give ASU the official 2nd best record in the league (We own tiebreak with everyone not named FIU because we beat MTSU), but that is neither here nor there, as ASU will be the 2 seed in Hot Springs regardless as West Division Champs. I think that race is for Bubbas Cup points only.

Here are my seed and matchup projections:

Friday:

#6 WKU vs #11 ULM 6:00pm (Summit Arena)
#8 ULL vs #9 UNT 6:30pm (Convention Center Court)
#7 FAU vs #10 Troy 8:30pm (Summit Arena)

Saturday:

#4 FIU vs #5 UALR 6:00pm (Convention Center Court)*
#1 MTSU vs ULL/UNT winner 6:30 (Summit Arena)
#3 USA vs WKU/ULM winner 8:30 (Convention Center Court)
#2 ASU vs FAU/Troy winner 9:00pm (Summit Arena)

*While I do not believe UALR has played on the convention center court in a while, I do not see the league moving MTSU off of center stage unless Karl Benson really does hate the Blue Raiders.*
