And pretty much all of them are in California, Illinois or Michigan.

That bastion of liberalism, our presidents home base of Chicago, is the 4th most miserable city in the entire country!!!

Not entirely sure, but I'm pretty sure the entire top 20 are ALL liberal cities.

Hooray liberalism!!

I wonder how close Robert's proximity to Chicago and Rockford Illinois fit into their rankings in top 4 (3rd and 4th) in the misery index or with lake county in the top 9?

My guess is it plays a pretty big factor, his blatant stupidity can make anyone miserable. 03-puke

Makes you wonder what they do with some of the highest, if not THE highest, taxes in the country.

Of course they are liberal. Liberals, by definition, are miserable. They are unhappy with society and lot in life so they want to change society and the rules for everyone.

And don't forget that they want to make everyone else around them miserable so everyone can be "equal".

Shared misery is the definition of liberalism and communism.

This was one thing that was widely noted in Europe in the 70s--everyone was miserable living in the socialist paradises that they had created. The widespread unhappiness was blamed for things like the Skinheads. Then they started to swing back toward capitalism. The emergence of the EU has bucked that trend, and it's been hard to move very fast with so many entrenched entitlement interests, but there has been some movement back toward capitalism--Maggie Thatcher, Sweden has privatized social security, the French/German approach to health care has always worked better than single-provider/single-payer.

Europe is to the left of us still, but they are moving right. We are moving left. Will it take us the same 50 years to figure out that does not work? Will we be miserable while we are figuring it out? Will there be anything worth saving when we do figure it out?
