RE: Oh, My. God.
Kermit said he wanted the team to get used to the idea of cutting down nets this year... Western fans sure have selective memory, but then again I would too if my team were 8-9 in conference play.

Congrats MT. Enjoy it, you earned it. As to WKU fans, yes there are a couple WKU fans who can do nothing but make asses of themselves here attempting to talk smack about MT when MT is running roughshod through the SBC this year and WKU is sitting near the bottom of the conference and struggling to finish .500. It's not all WKU fans tho. Most have remained silent and humble, as they should. Every time those 2 or 3 post, I cringe because I know they're going to be owned by MT fans. It's embarassing. Each school has those 2 or 3 types of fans. MT has them as well.

I sincerely believe that MT will finally break their 24 year dry spell and win the SBC Tourney and make it to the NCAA tourney. If ya'll hadn't made a decision to join CUSA, I'd be rooting for you in the NCAA tournament as I would any other conference mate. But since you're leaving after this year, I'll probably not care as much. Just the way it is.

Oh, and by they way, please take it easy on us when you visit Diddle next Saturday. Don't think my pride can handle a complete smack down by MT in Diddle. I expect nothing less than a 30 point beating by the Raiders.

Is that why Kermit turned DOWN the Southern Miss job last year ? 'Twas his if he wanted it.

Yes, he would probably leave for his alma mater Miss. State and I'd be fine with it.

Not like WKU has a good track record of hanging onto coaches/admins who do well-- Taggart, Felton, Horn, baseball coach, AD, AD

Classy Post, and Thanks !

Also, for the record, I think Rubit should get POY. Just wanted to ruffle Skully's feathers a bit. He's been talking sh*t about MT for some time now.

I saw your post last night and you didn't ruffle my feathers at all. But to clarify I haven't been talking sh*t about MTSU at all. I've just posted stats (have I not?) of why I think Rubit will win POY. This doesn't equate to me talking sh*t about MTSU though.

MTSU knew exactly how to defend Rubit last night, and you guys took advantage of our lack of depth and perimeter play to double up on Rubit and force some fouls and turnovers. Congrats on the win! We stood no chance without Freddie Goldstein and Xavier Roberson in our lineup. Luckily for us (and Rubit) one game does not a season make. Hopefully the Jags can keep it together and make a run in the conference tournament and meet you in the finals and give you a better game. Go Jags!

Very few SBC teams have a good track record of keeping coaches and ADs when they have the opportunity to go to the SEC (Felton, Horn, AD Bjork) or go home (Taggart, AD Wood, baseball coach Finwood). As you said, if Davis gets the opportunity to go to MSU, he would probably take it. That does not mean that MTSU does not "have a good track record of hanging on to coaches that do well".
If I wanted to be a smart butt, I could say that WKU has had more people do well than MTSU as the reason the aforementioned people left WKU, but I think it is more a matter of each situation being different for each coach... timing, family situation, comfort level, etc.
In particular, I am surprised that your WBB coach has not been enticed to move elsewhere, although I beleive he is from that area, which would have an impact on his decision to stay.

MUTS really cut down the nets after clinching the REGULAR-SEASON title?

This has to be the saddest, most pathetic thing I've ever heard of ... worse than Troy hanging a banner for being in the CBI or whatever that non-NCAA, non-NIT postseason tournament is.

Nah, I think Troy is worse. But the saying "Act like you've been there before" comes to mind. If I was a player on the MTSU team I wouldn't allow my teammates to cut it down, because the goal is to win the conference tournament, not the regular-season title. What the regular-season title get MTSU last year? Win the tournament THEN you can cut down the nets. That's just me, and if I was a player I'd refuse to allow my teammates to cut it down as incentive for the tournament.

I think every year Troy has a winning season we should hang a banner. I use to really enjoy watching Troy basketball. I'm not wasting a dime on this crap basketball program.

We have had plenty do well. Both volleyball and men's golf turned down Auburn in the last couple of years. Insell is entrenched in this area, and is older. Stockstill turned down BOTH ECU and Memphis State.

We have several former coaches who have retired or been fired still living in the area, even after HC stints elsewhere.

Kermit has a special needs daughter who loves it here, and I don't think he'd go anywhere that didn't have good healthcare.

That said, if Kermit leaves we are in fine hands with Monte Towe, who just got us a big kid who had previously committed to Missouri-- Tyrek Coger.

LOL....thanks for the concern about my genitalia but I'm confident in the existence and size of mine.

Look, I call it like I see it. Typically it doesn't take a pair to anonymously smack on a sports message board but it does take brains to smack in such a way you don't look like a fool, which is sadly what some look like when they are owned regularly.

I did not say we did not lose coaches, its a given...You guys are just not using to have a type of season where your basketball coach is wanted by bigger programs who have way more money to offer than you guys can match...Welcome to the successful basketball life! Hopefully you guys will not wait another 25 years to know what its like or feels like to have success on the hardwood...Hopefully your team is just not happy to be there either this season..We cannot even keep our own alumni from moving on..That is why I would be surprised if Kermit is not gone after this run this season..You guys are a very senior laden team and I am sure will go back to being the average team you normally are next season...No other place in the country has good special needs care? I find that hard to believe...
