HASF GROWTH

Year......Donors HASF Total
2012.....1,682 $1,449,073.XX (I added this line)
2011.....1,569 $1,466,327.01
2010.....1,525 $1,315,420.09
2009.....1,424 $1,304,207.72
2008.....1,376 $1,245,379.46
2007.....1,250 $1,124,362.68

The last time to get any benefits is in October so I wonder if they close their books for that year some time shortly after that time. Also that is not awful considering that the CPC fundraising of 9.5mil in the past year and a half. Our "growth" was that we added 113 individual donors from last year. Looking at that number it really the best growth since 2007-2008. Hopefully they continue to donate and after we all recover from the CPC donation and credit card bills from the OB trip the donation amount should grow well.

The thing is that many people spread their CPC donations over 5 years.

I think they will trade the 17K in HASF donations for the 9.5mil committment for the CPC. My guess is with their success the number will rise dramatically this year.

Yes, I think the HASF donations and donors will increase this year because of the OB appearance.

Even though the schedule is crap for home I'm fine with a $120.00 price tag.

Has anyone been to the HASF kickoff before? I am considering going for the first time and even taking my kid and would appreciate any pointers. Most important do they have enough food?

It's worth going. There is enough food. Sometimes it's just chicken fingers and veggie appetizers, and other times they have had hamburgers. In prior years, they had soft drinks; last year they did not. So, it's anyone's guess what they will have this year. But, you don't really go for the food anyway.

There are round tables set up that seat 10. They will have your HASF donation envelopes available for pickup and some sundry other things. You will be able to order the NIU football book and a replica MACC Championship/OB ring should you so desire. Athletics administrators speak about ticket plans, administrative things, how important the donors are, etc. I'm sure the OB will be a big part of this year's presentation. Then, the coaches are introduced and a few of them speak, in addition to a couple student-athletes. The whole event is sort of a rah-rah pump the crowd up event.

If you go, remember that there is a basketball game at 7:00 p.m. You need a basketball ticket to get into the HASF event.

I took my 3 kids last year and will be again this year.

I suggest that you bring juice type drinks for the kid/s as all the event had 2 years ago was pop/water/coffee and only water/coffee last year.

We also try an sit at one of the tables close to the door so that we can make a quick exit if needed.

The past 2 years it would end around 30min before the BB game.

There was still some food left over after the presentation and the coaches hang around chatting with a few people.

It would be the polite thing to do.

RE: 2013 Huskie Football Kickoff 3/2!
I plan to attend once again.

Changes are likely given name change etc.

Seating in yrs past was somewhat insufficient with many last minute arrivals standing while eating. Get there early. There has always been sufficient space for additional tables and chairs to be arranged but never done. Go figure re: Dept not learning lessons from prior experiences.

If you attend for the food, you may be disappointed. It's ordinary, bland and limited finger foods. I don't eat hot dogs nor much else in the way of processed foods.

Event is okay but lacking in excitement , visuals, music, etc. A parade of guest speakers is about the most to be hoped for with time for some mix and mingling with the newbies , handshakes etc.

This was the case in 2011 and before but not last year. They opened it to the whole gym...there was plenty of open chairs at tables. There was also a few NIU movie clips along with a full presentation...also the HMB played.

You might but we don't. At a minimum you should probably wait until people are done eating. Even better, before they eat. Then there will be lots of leftovers.

Ooh, now there's a good idea.

You know me, NIU007. I'm sure you can confirm that I have a Hercules-type body. (Psst, agree with me so at least the guys will have a sense of heightened anticipation.)

Is Saturday a visit day? My son said the LB from our high school (with a couple of offers in hand) is taking a visit - not sure if it's an official visit, though.

Yes, I was planning to wear a black bag over my head to the men's game on Saturday and women's game on Sunday.
