Question for Troy fans . . .
What was your impression of Scott Farmer when he left your program?
He's been taking, in my opinion, some well-deserved criticism, over the past two to three weeks. I was just curious how your fans viewed the decision not to retain him permanently.

RE: Question for Troy fans . . .
My personal opinion was that he wasn't ready for the position yall put him in. He needed more time to learn under a strong negotiator...something he wasn't getting under the AD's he was serving under with Troy at the time. When he served as the interim AD, I thought was telling of how he was going to do...most of the time chasing his tail...just following chancelor's orders...no real moves made. Scott is a great guy...I just don't think he was ready.
His wife comes with him and she was wonderful in the ticket office...we took a little step back in that department.
However, I think he will be sucussfull in his next job...he will have the experience and knowledge now...would be a great pickup for GaSouthern...IMO. If he could get a assistant AD job at a university with a strong AD for a few years, it would be best for him in the long run. He will turn out to be a good one in a few years though.

RE: Question for Troy fans . . .
I know when he left for ULL that alot of people thought we let a good one get away. I thought he would be our next AD. After seeing how our new AD is doing in his new role versus our old AD (who Scott was under) I can deffinately see him not getting the proper training that he would need to become an AD.
He seemed to have made a GREAT hire of a FB coach over there. Money seems to be flowing in. What issues is he getting raked over the coals about?

RE: Question for Troy fans . . .
The main issues with Farmer (which may ultimately cost him his job) are
1) He was seemingly oblivious to conference realignment. That issue is now being address by the Pres., but Farmer publically acted surprised when the SBC was watered down.
2) The public dust up with the hugely popular womens softball coach and the coaches resignation 1 day before the season began. Again the pres. had to step in and mediate here. Dr Savoie ended up having to convince the softball coach to stay on as an unpaid assistant to keep the peace, but this one is not over.
3) He has not been forthcoming with fans on many issues and sometimes it seems he is "asleep at the wheel." Cajun fans want to move upward in the food chain, but Farmer seems content to accept status qou. He was hired to get us to the next level, but he seems content to not make waves and tread water. This will not work with Cajun fans.
4) Not that it is all his fault, but the slow introduction of the "Master Plan" for athletics has ticked off a lot of fans. IMHO, this issue will be solved in a couple of weeks.
