True ALL SPORTS Conference
A good all sports conference will garner TV attention regardless of market. I would want all "3 Big" sports and a league with balance where everyone at least brings one thing worthy

Sport : Hockey Football Basketball
1) Miami (OH) x x x
2) W Michigan x x x
3) BGSU x x x
4) Army x x x
5) UMASS x x x
6) UCONN x x x
7) Boston Coll. x x x
8) Notre Dame x x x
9) Cincinnati x x
10)Wake Forest x x

This would be a great league. 3-4 Top 15 hockey teams each year, very strong basketball; 3-4 bids and some schools with good football tradition.

Miami: Top 25 wins in football all time, Top 5 Hockey program
W Mich: Top 15 Hockey program
BGSU: National Championship in Hockey
ARMY: National Following
UMASS: Strong History in Basketball
UCONN: Top 15 consistantly in Basketball
BC: Strong Basketball tradition and long football tradition
ND: Probably the biggest Brand in NCAA behind Texas
Cinc.: Great football last several years and great basketball
Wake: Great basketball program

Yea, you'll have that if you want a league focused on all 3 sports. That was my point in trying to get an ALL sports league as much as possible.

I dont know if i should laugh or cry at the idea of ANY MAC school bringing mbb to the table... You did not list all sports, you listed 3. Of which, one is a northern dominated sport... I would argue that wbb and baseball would surpass hockey. I would then level soccer and lax with hockey, then you have olympic nonteam sports after that...

A true all sports conference already exists. It's called the IVY LEAGUE, or is it MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS? The IVY LEAGUE sponsors something like 100 sports, doesn't offer athletic scholarships and makes the athletes go to class and graduate.

Did you seriously just propose a scenario where Notre Dame would give up its football independence after over a century to join an all-sports conference that has Western Michigan and Bowling Green?

Out of the "Big Four", hockey is definitely the least popular, and receives the least amount of coverage.

This is how I'd rank the pro sports leagues in terms of media coverage.

NFL
MLB
NBA
NHL
MLS
MLL

Sport #3 is debatable.

I would say in the south it would be baseball but of course from a northern bias as proposed hockey is #3.

Wake Forest Hockey? 03-lmfao

College hockey is definitely #3 in the North, and baseball, soccer and lacrosse combined don't match it.
That's obviously not the case in the South, where college baseball is clearly #3 and hockey practically non-existent.

Yet professional baseball is much more popular in the North than both professional hockey and professional baseball in the South. Why? Because professional baseball starts in April. College baseball starts in late January, which is basically a big middle finger to everyone in the North. Works about as well as pond hockey in Alabama.

How far north are we talking? I live in NJ and no one cares about college hockey.

I say its because the South only has one team and thats the Braves. If say Nashville and Charlotte had teams, MLB would be way more popular in the South.

Last I checked the Astros, Rangers, Rays, Marlins, and the Braves were all in the south.....

Well, since he's mentioning the weather, I'll take it that he's referring to the south in a geographic sense, and there are two teams in Florida - both of which noone cares about.

A group in North Carolina was trying to buy the Expos(?) at one time and move them to Greensboro. Obviously that never happened.

Basically New England, New York, Big Ten states, and Colorado. Wasn't talking about you southerners in New Jersey. There's a conspicuous absence of college teams in NYC, Philly and points between. Not sure why. Certainly not for a lack of hockey fans.
